This is your bullet...here is your candy

There used to be a Julia on this thingie a couple of years ago who was very upset with me for saying this generation and probably the next one in Iraq were doomed already, no matter what anyone did...that their entire lives would be spent trying to recover from what had happened to them...like here in America we'll be dealing with the fallout of our flirtation with God-Fanaticism for years to come. It's fine to help the people of Iraq, the children especially...but it does nothing for their grandchildren, except make sure there'll be some. But what will be done to them by the same people who are weeping now?

We've always done this. We think nothing and do nothing till a five-year old is at death's door...then Jackie decides to send the kid some old shoes and Narsai cooks and the rest of us weep and maybe a petition gets started up...soon we lose interest because there are lots of five and six year olds and "we can only do so much" etc. because people as shallow as this have very little staying power...they just get in when the fighting is over, do "some good" and turn away. And always the harm they do far far outweighs the little bit of good...because they are passive people who'll pay trubute money to their governments by the bucketful because they're afraid not to but when it comes to voluntarily opening their purse strings...something they can "control" or have "power" over and can finally deterime their own "destiny"...will give you a penny for every thousand dollars in taxes they pay out.

It's the ultimate bit of hypocrasy to have the same people who send billions to kill people also send their old clothes and some crayons to whatever children survive. Narsai and Jackie and the rest of us sat by silently while 500,000 Iraqi children were slowly done away with...something not even the "bad" Nazis did who kiled them outright...and then sent some candy and old clothes to the lucky ones who survived. We did nothing to make survivors...just used the ones who managed not to die...and lord knows our government TRIED hard enough to kill them all. I mean think about it...would there have been a "cry of alarm" if ten million children died...or twenty million or one billion? Why? Is it a question of numbers and how many it takes to excite the "conscience" of the American people or the International community of Christian Murderers? Oh...but they aren't REAL Christians. Oh yes they are...the most real kind there can be...because they too sacrifice human beings...I'm just surprised we haven't eaten the bodies and sipped the blood of those children.

All these tragedies have meant to us Christians is the chance to get pious and weep whle we work both sides of the street. We kill on the one hand...then administer some trinkets to the survivors. And do you think we do it for THEIR sakes? Do we kill a childs parents or a couple's children and hope $100 worth of trinkets and beads is a "good deed" done, or makes up in any way for what we did? On the contrary, it just drives the point home about how callous and uncaring we really are. Isn't it adding more injury to them...rubbing salt in the wounds we gave them?

Narsai became president of the Abet Society because his conscience was bothering him and had they not agreed to make him president and allow him to run the show, he never would have done it. Jackie is the same way. Narsai asked her several times to help with "his" dinner and she refused...said she was too busy. The truth is she doesn't work on anything she can't control and isn't about to work for Narsai. Neither one of them is thinking about anybody but themselves. I know Narsai longer and even better than I do Jackie and he too made the mistake of thinking my motivations were anything like his own...so that he dropped his guard and said and did things I bet he wishes he never had...not in front of me at least. Narsai did the same with the foundation we set up...if we wanted anything from him in the way of "help"...we would have to make him president and do just as he said.

It would have been far more to the point and honest too to have at least protested Bush's murder of the Iraqi people, those "dear" children too...but that would have brought us the wrong kind of attention. Like that infamous Jew Peter, we denied the victim, turned our backs, said "who me"?...we turned our backs and then forgave ourselves once the danger was past and then went out and tried to salve our consciences with "good deeds". We, striving mightily to be "liked", gave silently when the public hangman came around...we were patriotic and "smart" on cue so no one would guess we were "terribly upset" and we even chanted louder than the rest so no one would suspect...then in order to feel even better about ourselves we took up a collection and sent the survivors of our handiwork some toys and band-aids and tin roofs and felt even better about ourselves. Who cared enough to speak out on behalf of even ONE child...or ONE mother of a child over there BEFORE they were killed by us?

That's why Narsai, to me, is the most despicable of all. I watched him weep and tear-up at the thought of all those poor children and I heard him make the CIA's argument for damning Iraq and I caught the brunt of his fury when I pointed out it was bullshit he conveniently didn't want to challenge or examine...unlike the scrutiny he gives to a pound of meat at the grocery store or the sharp eye he maintains when something he has to pay for is being weighed...then he can't be precise enough...he can't haggle and niggle enough...he won't trust the vendor or his scales or anything about the transaction but is sure someone is lying somewhere. Yet when it came to the bullshit on Iraq he took it all in unflinchingly...as if no one had ever proven themselves more trustworthy than the CIA and Pentagon. All of us were following the path of least resistance...like germs will. That's the same thing we're doing with all this human aid bullshit now. We're STILL doing what comes easiest...and it's by far the easier thing...the MOST needful thing for us right now to "help"....easier for us now to give a little...to eat a diner, something you'd think we'd like to do anyway...but no, we do it for "Assyria"...for those poor, poor children etc. We were being lazy and uncritical then...and we're doing the same thing now. We bested Simele by far...we manged to get more of us killed than we did back then...and give us the opportunity and we'll set up an even bigger blood bath in the next generation or five.

These "humanitarian" gestures, coming from Christians intended FOR Christians while it's been Christians who ruined that country can do nothing but increase resentment and hostitlity down the years between them and their Muslim neighbors who far outnumber them. You can forgive the Muslims for seeing what this is about far more clearly than we want to admit to ourselves. They know damn well what this bull about our being the DIRECT and ONLY descendants of the Assyrians is about...they know why the roofs are being rebuilt and the surviving children being sent chocolates and they and their parents being encouraged to "stay the course" by Narsai and the Aid and Abet Society. They understand the hidden message in "we must keep Assyrians (read:Christians) in the homeland". We need Christians there so we can maintain this "claim" of ours...so there will be some Christians to be used for agitating the Muslims...stirring them up periodically...goading them into violating their "human right" down the road...and you know how important Human Rights are to us...it's another one of those things we know are very dear to us because we "Talk About It ALOT".

We have never looked down the road...around the bend to wonder where things lead. We snore through Life...wake with a start to hand out candy to bleeding people...then go back to sleep. I don't plan on doing it or allowing others to do it without a fight...there were Assyrians, real ones, among us before who deplored this "thing we do"...and I'll follow in their footsteps...not Narsai's. This is all monument building...same thing. I, for one, am not going to play hole to Narsai's ass...or anyone else's. The time to help those people was before...today Narsai and the rest of them are only helping themselves. The rest of us get fooled because we buy their tears and don't ask ourselves what else they COULD do at this juncture but send some medicine a candy bar or two and, oh wondrous miracle of Christian caring...overeat!
