The Christian position is untenable...and when I say "Christian" I
mean those who say they're of the Christian religion but insist they
are Assyrian too. Not that it wouldn't be possible to be of any
religion and be Assyrian...just that they make such a joyous fuss out
of having dumped that silly religion of the Assyrians for an off-shoot
of one from the Jews and then condemn anyone else who did the same
thing but DIDN'T adopt Christianity in its place.

In any case..being of the Christian faith is "so important" to them
because it's all they have. Imagine if you denounced your parents or
children for the sake of something...a religion or even a
chair...naturally enough that chair, or religion, would HAVE to become
even more important than your parents and children ever were...IF they
ever were...because how else could you live with yourself? It's one
thing to throw them over for "God and a seat at his side for
eternity"...that might be forgiveable and understandable...but to do
it for nothing...or for a trifle? That's too damn uncomfortable to
bear.

No Christian I've ever had three words conversation with can explain
to me what was so all fired important they had to dump Ashur...I mean
look where we got under his guidance and look what Jesus did to us.
At that time, Judaism and Christianity were as "silly" as anything
else around and there were far more noble aspects to a belief in Ashur
than the church will ever care to admit.

Religion being life itself back then...not something you grumblingly
did once a week, if then... meant that to turn your back on your
religion was to turn away from your roots...your entire belief-system,
not just about gods and heavens and hells and where you go and if you
go and why your're here...but it defined family obligations, daily
rituals, friendships and marriage ties, science and politics and
warfare...everything we think of as "Life" was all bound up in
religion...something we've turned into a casual thing you do when you
feel like it, or at Easter. So to give it up...to dump your ancestral
gods and pick up those of the Jews...was far more mind and soul-
shattering than these Christians want to admit. To listen to them
you'd think it had been a mistake all along, or really had been of no
significance WHAT gods the Assyrians believed in..in fact that they'd
been believing the WRONG god all along...so, were they blessed with a
blessed civilization or was the whole thing a kind of
a "curse"...after all, didn't the Jewish forbears of the Christian
religion believe god loved them most when he "tested" them most...and
by that standard the glories and achievements of the Assyrian Heritage
and way of life must have been one.........big.......CURSE...that was
only lifted when they fell on their knees before Yahwe and started
believing that being kicked from pillar to post and having not a pot
to piss in were marks of "divine favor", when their god Ashur had taught them to MAKE others piss...and the dummies still
believe it.

For these Christians to now go on and on about their Assyriansm...when
there isn't a single thing they do that's Assyrian...like they would
even KNOW...is absurd. That's why you won't find a sane or rational
one among the many who makes this claim. Christianity is important to
Christians of the MidEast becuse it sets them apart from the hated
Muslims...makes them different and to their way of thinking "better".
Trouble is when they come to Disneyland West where everyone is
Christian and far richer and more successful at it...they're nobodies
all over again...stuck in store-front churches among people who
secretly believe Christ was born in Boston anyway and who look down at
their peculiar ways that seem almost pagan if not somehow neo-Muslim
and "exotic".

So now what do they do...these Christians, to avoid being swallowed up
in an ocean of Christians of every size shape and hue? They start
ranting about being the "dear"...the "only"...the "faithful" children,
grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces of Sargon the Gret and
Ashurbanipal and Tiglath-Pilessar...people whose gods they scorned and
dropped ages ago...wo would no more recognize them or WANT them than I
do.

They are charlatans mixed in generously with scoundrels and
opportunists of the first piss water...and that's all.
