I honestly don't know. I just don't think that we have enough information to know exactly how it all came down, however, I'll hazard an opinion. First, word of what happened and the message of the Gospel was spread slowly by word of mouth and as converts to the faith multiplied they probably established centers of worship. I doubt that there was much of an organized religion in that area for quite a while. Probably for a considerable period of time there was a merging of some of the old religious practices and superstitions with the new religion. I think it took at least 300 to 400 years to establish an organized religious structure that was clearly differentiated from the old ways and beliefs. There was no conquering Jewish army that imposed Christianity on our people against their will.
