That's amazing...and wonderful to know. I remember some scholar at aina bleating that Christians fought with the Muslims against the Crusaders...but his take on it was that I was mistaken for assuming the Crusaders undermined the Christian position there...that not ALL Christians welcomed Western Christian interfernece there...turns out NO ONE wanted those bloodthirsty cuthroats around...the Crusaders killed EVERYBODY...amde no difference to them what religion you were...then as now, religion was the cover story...the shield, the trick. It also amazed me to learn the pope, who hated the Emperor Frederick II withy a most Christian passion...paid several thousand gold coins to Saladin to murder Frederick. At their first meeting, Saladin showed the letter from his pope to Frederick...and sent the gold back. Frederick learned their language and customs and was charmed by their culture...he and Saladin liked and respected each other and Frederick achieved more for the Christian cause there than any other Christian commander of king. The Turks were called the gentlemen of the Medeival Age. Their word was their bond. --------------------- |
