It's their arrogance, really, that makes them act as they do - they just use the law of "God" or whatever they can create to justify their actions. I have seen such arrogance also infect the secular.... I admire those who exhibit sensitivity and who can, if not physically, mentally place themselves in the shoes of others less fortunate than them. +++Then you are a part of the problem...not the solution. Nothing...absolutely nothing corrupts more than the idea that a god approves of you. It isn't arrogance...it can't be arrogance...not until you believe your god talks to you and only those like you. religion makes people arrogant, among other things. What could be more heady and corrupting to a small mind...and who runs churches anyway....than someone believing he or she is god's darling. Why can't people be kind without a god...why do they have to be promised exclisve membership in a garden club...why must there be rewards and punishments to induce decent and considerate behavior...what's the matter, is it SO hard for these people to be decent? yes...for religioius folk it is VERY hard to be decent...to be fair to the gods that other people revere because they take it as a slight to THEIR god and OF COURSE they will resent you for it and kill you for it. Look what they did to the Jews for 2000 years JUST for saying, "no thank you, you go your way, we'll stick to ours". +++Anyone...ANYONE, from pope and sister Theresa, the Fascist Fun Nun, to Hitler to Bush to Khomeni who uses God to fuel or sanction or direct any decisions that affect anyone outside his or her own immediate family should be deemed unfit to have any direct influence whatsoever on the lives of others. You want a surgeon who prayss to his gods and casts bones and reads tea leaves before deciding wehere to cut you? let him do whatever he wants to in his home...but at the hospital stick to tried and approved or promising medical techniques...never mind the bullshit about how god guided his hands to victory and the rest of it...stow it. That's just the beginning of what they'll do later on...what they're doing to us now. It isn't kind and decent people who want to oulaw abortions...it's religious people. +++You're trying to straddle a fence here and your gonna hurt your balls...that's all. --------------------- |
