++You were joking right? Your response was as elegant and thoughful as anything I can hope to read this side of the grave...when I read "Ashur" above the door you go through.

++We Assyrians once led the way. Our boys now would go to the end of the line and start begging alms. I see a different path but it again asks of us to be original, bold and and go down different roads. Sooner or later, as you said, people will realize we are all one. We modern Assyrians can begin to point out the way to get there.

++Rather than taking a bloody page from Israel's book...we can write our own...we can take advantage of the entire world...whereever we are...wherever we've settled. It isn't that different from being in the vanguard of an Assyrian mission of exploration and colonization and we can even install a Kuduru to show how far we went and what we achieved.

++It's a lovely dream to have a country of any size wherein everything is ours and of us. We'll fight and curse each other...but we'll do it among ourselves. However we'll never get there with the Fascistic and ignorant leadershit we have now. But if we're ever to get there...we must begin anywhere else BUT there. The centers of power aren't there, not for us and they may never be. But "never" is a long word.

++In the interim we need to bring together, not physically necessarily, but in other ways at least, all the young and old and middle aged who understand how to get from here to there. We have the resources of several nations at our disposal. I'll say again that major world-calss cities are not in the habit of giving away prime real estate...and some they won't sell at any price. Yet San Francisco and Chicago gave or would have given truly priceless bits of land from which we could draw people to us and our cause...educate, enlighten, inform and entertain hordes and scores of people...and forever.

++We can do that in Europe...in Africa, in Asia...and if we aren't assholes about it, in BetNahrain itself. We need a kind of anchor...something in the ground...and why not in several countries...to inspire and pull together all of us scattered here and there. A diaspora doesn't have to be necessarily a bad thing...and since we seem to be caught up in one...why not put it to good use...why not turn the tables...why not use a perceived disadvantage to empower ourselves and draw on the available resources of several wealthy countries who, as San Francisco and Chicago did...are happy and eager to accomodate us. Why piss and moan and wail and curse and complain and threaten and warn and kick and send in people to kill children and generally behave like a pack of savages. That gets us nothing...it only gives a momentary rush to some pretty despicable people in our own ranks who are no friends to us anyway and makes those we claim hate us find even more reasons to do so.
