Many Americans and their pro-Israeli advisors refuse to admit the fact that there is an Israeli dimension to US problems in Iraq. At present, 29.02.04, the majority of Arabs and Muslims are very suspicious of US blatant support for all Israeli crimes against Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. As a result, the Iraqi effective armed resistance is being supported by Arabs and Muslims; who are refusing anything America wants to do in Iraq. As one Iraqi politician puts it “no-one wants to buy anything from the American devils or their pro-Israeli allies”. In defiance of the US, secular opposition leaders started to support the religious fundamentalists, pro-federation advocates started to back-pedal on promises made to the Kurds and most Iraqis started to support Ayatollah Al-Sistani’s call for direct election against Bush’s plan for handing power to an American-appointed council. Furthermore, no issue will be considered as untimely and controversial as the US attempt to return Iraqi Jews (400000) to Iraq.
It is true that uprooting Jews from Iraq was a very painful experience to thousands who have lived and contributed to all aspects of Iraqi life. The Iraqi Jews have the right to return and settle anywhere they wish. But unfortunately, it is promoted by pro-Israeli American administration; while at the same time supporting Sharon’s Nazi-type atrocities against fellow Palestinians. The Jews should be allowed to return by an elected Iraqi government and to abide by Iraqi laws. Since Iraq is at a state of war with Israel, all Jews must realise that working for MOSSAD or any of Israel intelligence services will be considered as an act of betrayal.
Prior to contemplate encouraging Iraqi Jews to return to Iraq, America and Israel must change their policies towards Arabs and Muslims by 180 degree.
Otherwise, all Jews currently entering under the cover of the occupation will be targeted as collaborators and will be expelled for entering Iraq illegally.
All decent Jews who have left Iraq mustn't rush up events. Proper decisions will be made when the last soldier has left Iraq and a democratically elected Iraqi government is in place. As before 1948, I will not be surprised if future Iraqi governments will include some of the many talented Iraqi Jews or their descendants.
