In this post there`s a fair description of the dilemna of Christians in Iraq historically...but then the guy ends with a call for them all go live in ONE place...and protect themselves??? Even without this war people were anxious to leave...even without this war there was all that trouble gleefully listed by the boys..and now, after all this added mayhem and cause for revenge against the nearest and handiest Christians around...US again!!!...the guy wants them to all go to the north? Just how far from the south is the north? Does it have an impregnable barrier between? Are there NO Muslims in the north? Are we going to get rid of them somehow...when there are so few Christians there already???

He makes sense in his assessment but then arrives at a conclusion completely unwarranted by the very facts he himself laid out. Wullah to be stupid is a wonderful thing...if you can`t be smart

NINEVEH CALLS

It is sad to find that those of us who called for the "liberation" of Iraq have begun to see something troubling emerging from the new chaos created by the “Coalition of the Willing.” It is not so much the many specific acts of violence directed toward our people by Iraqi Muslims, but the looming urgent situation of “the calm before the storm” scenario we will inherit from all of the violence and hatred created by the “liberators.” There have been many killings and humiliations heaped upon the Iraqi people in general. US and British troops have wreaked havoc in many towns and cities, using excessive force and detaining and imprisoning many innocent Iraqis. Those who have had a brother or son or father killed or imprisoned, or a mother or sister raped, cannot help but spit at the very notion of the sort of democracy or liberation brought on by the US. Someday, perhaps soon, the US troops will withdraw into great fortresses or bases and leave the Iraqi population alone to vent its anger. The interpreters and the officials who have cooperated will live an uneasy existence if the Americans are not close by. The security forces will always come under attack. And our people, as they have done before on countless occasions when the “Christian” West has come to visit us with swords and promises, will be made to pay. It has been our story since the time of Christian Rome when the Persians made us the victims of Roman interests because we worshiped Christ, not because we had the same political goals as Rome. We paid for the Crusades and we paid for the British too. And we will pay for all of the ills the barbaric American troops have brought to Iraq.

We need to plan and look toward Nineveh. We have an existence there that may not last if we do not protect it and strengthen it. As stated before in several posts, we need to set up housing and to plan economic benefits for our people in the cities. Our villages there have been ours for many centuries. Our churches are ancient and still in use. The area is the safest in Iraq. It is our cradle and our grave.

While the rest of Iraq will remain unsafe for our people - and I fear that worst is yet to come - the Nineveh plain will contain a community that can at least put up some resistence to the violence that is yet to come.
