that's the way I'm going to sign my sculpture from now on...no personal name at all...just "el iraqui".

Anyway and to continue...there is something deeply disturbing and at the same time fascinating about the Eucharist...the central pivot of Christian Faith...the thing that above all else distinguishes it from all other religions ever dreamed up. It's even more significant that it's symbollic cannibalism and not the real thing...more significant because if it were real and actual cannibalism...we'd be talking about a whole other kettle of guts. Direct and honest cannibalism doesn't have to explain or justify itself..there is no psychological factor...no sleight-of-hand substitution of a cookie for gore through miracles...it can even be argued that real cannibals are far healthier mentally than the pretend kind for the symbollic cannibals are participating in something they admit to be disgusted by at all other times...and THAT's the most telling thing of all about the Eucharist...that it is a disgusting thing made adorable through the intervention of a god.

I tried to think of something equally as repugnant to our day to day existence as eating human flesh is. We don't really dislike violence so that can't be it. What if I set up a dilemna...grab a man and tell him he has two choices...either he can eat a humanburger...or forcibly rape a 12 year old girl I've got tied up in the closet. Both acts are ordinarily frowned upon and not the kind of thing a normal person would want to do. While having sex is a lot morte fun for us than eating human flesh...to forcibly rape an adolescent has nothing to do with sex...it's hardly sexual at all...just an abuse of power.

But there you have it. What would a normal man do? I think he'd rape the girl...that's how disgusted I think we all feel about eating humans...that a man would rather force himself upon a helpless child than eat a strip of meat ripped from her thigh.

Now what if there was a religion that had for a Eucharist, the symbollic rape of a 12 year old girl? Never mind the actual ritual..that's easy enough to make up...but whatever it was...it would mimic the actual thing as near as propriety would allow. Now remember...Christianity has had 2000 years to make the symbollic eating of human flesh appetizing...even adorable. I just now posed this idea...give it time.

But do you see what I'm driving at? A religion chooses as its one greatest distinguishing characteristic what is also abhorrent in reality. Some kind of a mental explosion or huge accomodation has to be made in each mind that accepts this. You just can't go from hating the idea of cannibalism to all of a sudden embracing it in principle and then even re-encating it...down to the blood in a goblet, without some moving and shoving over of brain cells...brain cells that are attached to other brain cells and who may have just settled in for a nice long healthy mental life...are all of a sudden jerked awake and told to assume new positions...ones that just the day before were considered about as awful a thing as possible...but now to be cherished and revelled in because "god says so".

This makes, of what I'm told constantly is a "Loving God"...which I never believed and only see evidence to the contrary, a rather powerful and dangerous force. An idea that can pervert the very core and order of what you are otherwise expected to be at all times...a NON-cannibal...can pretty much have its way with you.

This killing of a dear firstborn is purely Hebrew stuff aand at heart Christ was a Jew and Christianity got this stuff from Judaism as it was practised back then...back when god spoke his wisdom and NEVER opened his yap again. There was nothing new to the Jews in killing an innocent victim...child or goat and making of it the scapegoat...the one onto whose back all sins of the community are loaded upon and who is then killed or sent out to die, thereby absolving the people of their own guilt. This is a savage and illiterate's idea from the start. The new twist added was that the sacrificial victim must also be eaten...in remembrance...as a reminder of what it was put through...and so that the guilt for being so damn fucking stupid as to kill ANYTHING as a way of gaining FORGIVENESS or showing PURE LOVE could be made palatable...pardon the pun...the killers or sinners would eat their victim.

Symbollic cannibalism, it turns out, is what Christianity hinges and pivots on...not Love or Goodness or Meekness or any of that stuff...for we all know these things were there before and exist among all people...at least we say we know they do. I suspect though that Christians believe they brought these things with them...along with their Eucharist fetish.

And I say that to hate something and then love it IF it's made symbollic...screws a person up just enough so that he and she can do what Christianity has been doing since the Romans adopted and adapted it...it has been killing people. Actually killing them while all the time SYMBOLLICALLY weeping over murder. Christians, you see, get their symbols crossed and all mixed together...and that's why cannibalism is so popular with them...if they can keep their gorge down when a god tells them to...then they can kill as easily when an Emperor or a president tells them to. There isn't any mechanism built into a Christian to get him or her to draw back from any imaginable heinous act...for they've already learned to "love" one of the most awful and condemned acts of all time. They've been conditioned to love cannibalism when a magic word or phrase is repeated...sort of like the trigger word a hypnotist uses. Say "God" often enough to a Christian...and he'll kill and eat his kill too...he'll eat it "symbollically" but he WILL kill it FOR REAL...real dead...not for play.

There's more but I'm giving myself a headache. Funny...in three days I've thought more about Christianity than Andy ever will. If Christ came back today he and I would have great talks...while Andy would be pestering Him for His signature.
