America stands today where Athens stood after its defeat of the Persians...at that time Athens was the marvelof its world..a small democracy where chaos should have reigned instead went up in orderly fashion against the most formidable Empire of its day...and beat it because each Free man WAS a Free man...fighting as if Athens belonged to him personally..because it just about did...the hundreds of thousands of dispirited Persian soldiers..each owned outright by the King...little more than slaves were no match for the sons of Greece...

And then they threw it away...became the most hated Tyrant of its day..far worse because of the distance they fell than the Persians they`d just defeated...Athens proceeded to hand itslef over to the oil bidnessmen of its day who imposed themselves on former allies and stole more and more of the available wealth, beggaring and wounding the pride of those whose friendship should have been more precious than gold..or oil... so that there was rebellion soon and then a war AT Athens in which they and Spartans ate each other up with the result that Athens was all but done for and no one mourned its loss as a proud nation...though its spirit lived on and earned more fame then its power ever had.

We`re ready to make the ame blunder and if we think the gods aren`t above and instead the universe is rulled by General Boykin we`re in for a big surprise.

You want to read what freedom does for the human spirit read Xenophon`s ANABASIS about the nearlky ten thousand Greeks stranded deep within the Persian Empire who must fight their way back every inch of the way through hostile country where every bush and rock hid someone determined to kill these Greeks beofre they left..and the ten thousand didn`t have a Tyrant or even a single general..instead they elected leaders and allowed for discourse and dissent and tried to reach common ground in their deciosnmaking...because that was the BEST way to get the BEST out of them and they needed each and every one of them because they had important work to do, not talk..they had to get back alive...no MarDinkha over them..no looking to Strongarm Strongmen...each soldier had the spirit of Greece even though they`d hired out as mercenaries and did everything else soldiers do...with the exception that each one expected the most of himself...it is an incredible story...
