...it`s true...clay is very like flesh. That`s why I loathe plasticene...it`s popular because it`s oil based, that and a lot of yucky chemicals...you don`t have to keep it wet so there`s no need to keep it covered etc. But it feels dead. Clay can grow bacteria..it`s a living thing, it can dry completely and become brittle or be made into a gooey thick liquid, like a milkshake...and anything in between.

Years ago I got some white clay in Berkeley...it wasn`t meant for scultpure...way too fine...but it was the neatest stuff..when you pressed against it it actually came back at your fingers ever so slightly...just like flesh..it was the most amazing sensation..didn`t feel so much like you were sculpting as you were caressing a face that already existed in front of you.

You know...the more you step back from the boys and take a hard look at them..the stranger they appear. Here they are..."safe" in the West...and what do they do? Nothing..not a damn thing. Even their friggin religion turns out not to be that important. Do they help others to get out? No. They want them to stay put and KEEP Assyria! They all got out for better jobs and they turned even that into a Diaspora, saying they were chased out.

Not only that but they urge other nations to attack Iraq...knowing full well the Christians back there will get stuck between "Collateral Damage"..."Deliberate Damage" and, just to make their children`s lives REALLY hell..."Targetted Retaliation". And all of this is by way of showing their perfectlove for the Heritage and people.

And the one tactic they`ve devised...the strategy they`ve forged in basement clubhouses and garage conventions, is for those Christians to get themselves killed by Muslims, "and please send proof". It never crosses their minds to build a presence anywhere...to develop facets of this rich heritage we could actually be proud of...instead they have their list in hand to add dead names to. For years they were telling us the liberation of Iraq through war would be wonderful, best thing for them, can`t happen too soon, just wait till Democracy replaces that monster...and the day after the war, they discover a Muslim majority that wants revenge and THEN they start warning the world of what could happen to the Christians, "Please give us a country before they kill us all". They have no other way of "winning hearts and minds". Like I said, Christianity is at heart a religion of human sacrifice and then cannibalism..and the more innocent the intended victim the better...and there wasn`t a Christian in Iraq, IN IRAQ, who thought for a second that a war against Iraq conducted by Christians and with the goddamn blessings of Iraqi- Christian and other ex-patriots, would be anything but a disaster for them, for them more than anyone else in Iraq for long after the Christian murderers withdrew, the agony for the native Christians would continue for there would surely be reprisals..and they were sacrificed anyway..and now Jassim and Aprim want to feed off their corpses...why waste their flesh?

And mind you we`re talking about the ASSYRIAN heritage...which has had the accumulated time over centuries to become about as rich and complex and varied a culture as one could imagine.

And...nothing. A list of dead people, that`s all. With that they hope to excite pity. When did Assyrians EVER do such a thing?
