Dear Paul,

Claiming descent from the Akkadians was the Jewish way of saying they are descendants of good stock and adding lustre to their names.

I have no doubt that later on when our Empire expanded and we absorbed the desert area known as Israel into our Empire that they became a part of the Assyrian Empire. Then later on when King Sargon II resetlled the lost 10 tribes of Israel along the borderlands between the Assyrian heartland and the Urartu (Armenia) that they became fully Assyrianised.

But it's obvious that we can't use the OT as a history book as it is filled with blatant plagarism and errors.

Any high school student who looks at tablet 11 of the Epic of Gilogamesh will tell you that the Sumerian, Napushtim's Ark story was plagarised almost jot for jot in the pages of the Hebrew Bible, possibly when they were studying at our Univerisities and libraries.

How can we honestly and scholarly claim that the OT is THE original source when it clearly isn't?

Also according to Prof. Simo Parpola the ancient Assyrians also believed in monotheisem. They beleieved that their supreme diety Ashur manifested himself in different personas and had different names in different cities. Our ancient ancestors didn;'t beleive in polytheism they also beleievd in an open form of monotheism.
