...several years ago the book, "Chariots Of The Gods" went over this same ground...that spaceships came and got us started. Certainly people should explore new ideas...but this isn't a new idea...it's an old, old one. The bible itself deals with beings from "out there". In fact every religion traces its origins to something from UP THERE.

The really revolutionary idea would be a book by a scientist who discovered a guy named Bob Bones Jr. invented god in the basement of his cave one Tuesday in 4000 BC.

Every so often comes a new writer to vist these old ideas...no one can post a simple...not simplistic, but simple summary of what these writers believe...and make it credible enough for a sane person to want to pursue farther. Those prone to see a burning bush that issues laws and believe in loaves parting fishes will now add to the miracles they've witnessed by seeing a fiery spaceship on top of all the rest of those "truths", or near-truths. It's just a variation on an old theme of seeing things that don't exist and then BELIEVING in them BECAUSE you can't find evidence for them anywhere but in fevered minds and so it MUST be FAITH..and faith is supposed to the best lollipop in the jar.... "so why won't you LOOK"?...same old same old. We are still talking about Hysterics...just re-defining what makes them so.

And the bit about the white binding and the comment that "this is my bible"...from what passes for a "scientist"...shows just how old this "new" idea is. People are looking for gods. It doesn't matter where you find them...yahwe was hiding under a cowpie and he and the rest ALL come from nothing more exotic than the fevered imagination of someone who yearns for ANY of it to be true...there's no proof at all that any of them existed...so why NOT ones fron Outer Space?

I had a friend who made fun of a Mormon friend for her ridiculous beliefs...till she rattled off a list of HIS ridiculous Catholic views.

The ancient Assyrians had no more idea of where they came from than the Jews did, than this lady does, than anyone does. That's the whole point...it is a MYSTERY..and people who can't balance their checkbooks CAN'T measure the distance from where they stand to Infinity, or chart the heavens and tell us which cloud they plan to retire to. The person who even TRIES is a fool and is ducking legal, moral and practical problems here on earth to go live on the point of a pin with five angels...doesn't matter if they came down from the mountian, up from the valley, out of the ocean or across the desert. The Human Mind creates HUMAN gods who act the part of either beastly thugs or gentle souls...ain't a thing "spiritual" or other worldly about them...not from heaven and not from outer space.

That was the point to the Gilgamesh Epic. Gilgamesh himself would have been a sucker for this new version of the old story when he starts out...but after returning from his travels and especially after a drink with the Divine Barmaid...he would have known better...his reaction would have been similar to ours..."been there...done that".

YOU get excited and use your "intellect" to explore "science"...we're headed for a cool one with the Divine Barmaid.
