Farid, I completely agree with your words here, and this is how I would answer your questions:

Thanks to this new information I can modify my points of contention...the Church of the East is indeed an early church begun by early converts...or rather by Jews who chose to believe Jesus was the one...they "spread" as they did but were never any great shakes..then or now. Jews and Christians have babies and after 400 years there were pockets of Judo/Christians here and there. These people were tolerated by the Persians...and by the Muslims, (although there were several complaints against them because their entire focus was on the Messiah coming back and they made lousy citizens when it came to caring about THIS world, like they still do)...it was the Christians who would have killed them all had they gotten their hands on them...for which we can thank Muhammad...for his armies saved them from the Romans and their religion respected them and allowed them religious freedom with ALL their friggin peculiarities....who cared?

The Romans STILL determined the fate of the Church of the East...but indirectly...

The interesting thing to note is that it was still the Roman Church...in its European robes, that came and fucked them over FINALLY! They are the official religion of the European countries STILL attacking us...they did it by insinuating themselves with the Church of the East...in various ways that caused Muslims to become suspicious...because they saw that the Christians who`d always lived among them in peace...as did the Jews..were gradually being drawn to the West and could be used against them...and it happened with both Jews and Church of the East and then ALL the sects and denominations they brought to BetNahrain in their missionary and evangelical pose...who are ALL now attacking or supporting the attacks against Islam.

So what can we draw from this epiphany you had?

(1) The Church of the East (Partho-Sassanid Persia) is a different entity from the Church of the West (Latin-Byzantine Rome).

(2) The Church of the East had an independent beginning, independent history and is till this day independent from the Western Church

(3) Unlike the Church of the West, the Church of the East had no Constantine

(4) Because we never had a Constantine in Persia, the Church of the East never became an official creed of an empire

(5) Because the Church of the East was never in a position of power, it could never *force* itself on any other people

(6) Because it could never *force* itself on other people, because it never had soldiers to propogate it, it never forced people in China, India, Turkestan, Mongolia, Korea, Philippines and Japan to convert to its religion.

(7) Because of this, there should be no circumstance under which the Church of the East is to be blamed for anything that the Church of the West committed (e.g., Jews in Auschwitz, the Spanish Inquisition, the Crusades, Puritans, Africa, Iraq today, etc.)

(8) We are not Assyrians, but former Jews (and perhaps some Assyrians and others who converted of their own free will, although certainly not en masse). Therefore, we should not use Assyrianism as a front for our Church and our brand of Christianity. The Assyrian Church of the East should return to its former, historic name of simply "Church of the East".

(9) We should also, therefore, remove all traces of ancient Assyrian paganism from the altar area of our churches. This includes the Assyrian flag with the images of the pagan Deities Ashur and Shamash.

(10) We should live as loyal citizens in Iraq or any other nation our churches reside in. A church should be a church, and not a political~social club.
