News reports have it that already 1,300 people have died and millions of people are homeless in Bangladesh and neighboring south Asian countries because of flooding due to the monsoon. Two thirds of Bangladesh is under water. With this flooding, of course you will also see increases in disease - probably malaria and diseases due to contaminated water.

I believe that there is some talk within the scientific community of global warming causing increases in rainfall during monsoon season. I wonder if every year it will get worse....

How many lives could be spared just by decreasing pollution in just this one instance?
