...why Christians who claim to being Assyrians seem the least popular people in the MidEast, this letter filled with "suggestions" should answer you. The idea of appealing to Christian nations to ARM Christians living within Muslim lands...when those very same Christian nations have shown an eagerness to attack and kill the children of those countries, Christian ones too, is so harebrained that youŽd almost HAVE to also think you are an Assyrian and are owed someone elseŽs house too.

Imagine finding letters urging Libya to arm American Muslims...or from Israel suggesting arming American Jews. No wonder Saddam stomped out those villages..and no wonder the Kurds are seizing them and throwing these seditious sons of bitches out. What government anywhere in the world could blame them...really? Remember the American Indian Movement in the 70s and remember what the FBI and Federal Government and local police did to the native Americans who dared arm themselves ever so slightly and demand their lands be returned to them...remember Russel Banks, Dennis Means and Leonard Peltier..to name a few who managed to live through it.

This is madness and will go a long way to making conditions WORSE for Christians in Syria who think they are Assyrians..and of course, it comes from one of them who RAN out to save his ass.

As an answer to: Assyrians in Syria written by Assyria on 22 Feb 2005 21:10:09:

These are ligitimate concerns. Maybe we should begin to fund raise for our people in Syria?

>With Iraq being but a memory, the attention of the West as well as the Middle East is slowly but surely turning to Syria (the second largest Assyrian stronghold in the Middle East). The recent assassination of Lebanese prime minister Rafik Hariri by an unknown group(s) is the ammunition the U.S. can use to legitimize a military strike against Syria. I believe that it is no longer a question of if but instead of when America will invade Syria. This is what concerns me deeply...
>Assyrians number close to a million in all of Syria and are the indigenous peoples of the Northeastern portions of Syria. And the protection of this large populace is needed in order to guarantee the survival of the Nation of Assyria
>Concurrently, I appeal to the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) (members, leaders, and supporters):
>1. Arm all the Assyrian inhabitants of Syria, from Kamishly to Khabour to Hassake...
>2. Create an underground police force which will be able to immediacy secure the Khabour villages and protect the Assyrians in the area from marauding kurds.
>3.Create an exist plan for a large population of the Assyrians to be able to move quickly to the villages in Khabour and away from the larger cities, where fighting will become much more rampant.
>4. Politically speaking, only take a pro-Assyrian stance and try and remain neutral as tensions between Alawi, Sunni, and Shiaa erupt.
>Learn from the invasion of Iraq... The only people who are going to rush to our aid, are ourselves. The Assyrians in Syria need to be able to stand alone and defend their own people in the wake of an attack. Support from the West will never take fold.
>Just a thought
