...have seen a lot of World War Two movies recently...the blatant jingoism and heavy-handed patriotism is interesting. Wars where army meets army on a battlefield allows you to root for heroes...they go head to head and whichever side prevails...the action next shifts somewhere else...until a peace is negotiated and war machines disbanded. Civillians are then left to pioece their lives back together.

It's very different when you defeat the enemy army in ten minutes and then move into the towns and cities to fight the civillians...re-naming them "insurgents" and of course, "outsiders". You in effcet make every man woman and child, especially child, your potential enemy...the one who replaces the enemy soldier in your gunsights...and since you defeat the actual soldier in ten minutes...your real anger and distrust and the focus of all your fears and agression becomes the civillian population...whom in the case of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Grenada and Iraq you were ostensibly going in to protect, save and liberate.

It can only be a disaster. No matter your intentions you're going to wind up inflaming the populace and creating enemies where there were never any before...it's doomed to fail and our leaders know this...knew it from the start...if there was the slightest chance of creating a new and improved Iraq...an independent and free Iraq that would seek to regulate its resources as fiercely as any other free Republic does these days...the oily men would be in for an even harder time than they had with their puppets of choice who went "rogue".

Itaq is SUPPOSED to be devastated and torn apart...and in furthering this not-so-secret agenda of the Bush administration our dumb Christians..those OUTSIDE Iraq, have played the same dastardly hand they always played in making their co-religionists back home the hated objects of revenge...so what else is new?
