hello david,

hope all is well. i actually sent this response to the

pastor a few moments ago. i just received your reply,

and felt maybe my response to him will further clarify

my previous email. hope it helps clarifying what i

meant in further detail. if it doesn't, please feel

free to reply and let me know what you may have

questions about as far am my viewpoints on open

debates. Thanks!!!

Regards,

Christine

hello pastor,

actually, it's christine...:) you are referring to my

friend michelle who gave u the keys in nyc while i was

in china. no worries...:)

i totally agree with you. we all have the right to

disagree, and hear each other out. however, i think

it's all about the tone, delivery, and underlying

meaning of an argument which is something we need to

consider in an open debate. i feel what makes us

unique is our different beliefs, ideals, and

experiences which we can bring to the table. when

someone argues for the sake of putting the other down,

mocking them, and making an argument personal, that's

when it's time to end all discussions with such

individual or group of individuals.

………..I’m glad you agree with me that Ken was wrong for
not only taking the Koran out of context but for
thinking that we’re ignorant enough to believe that
infidels refers to Christians. However I don’t think
we should ban him despite his extremist views. Let’s
welcome him and use fact to prove that his views are
in fact wrong and quite frankly dangerous given the
current climate within Iraq.

C-no, no.. i think you misunderstood what i was
trying to point out, I think the Koran has many evil
verses, and i think the email we received the other
day pointed many horrible verses about their
viewpoints towards women. I actually don't think
Pastor Ken has extreme views at all. I think the way
he explained the verse you pointed out was right on
(Psalms). Actually, what I was trying to say was it's
good we question ourselves-our beliefs, etc. I am a
Christian, and I feel God and Jesus in my heart, as
crazy as this may sound to some....However, I, like
you, analyze everything before believing in it. One of
my concerns were the crazy verses in the Old
Testament... they;re off the wall! However, I do
believe Jesus taught us to live by love and
forgiveness. So, I agree with ken's views-I don't
think they are wrong. I don't see this in other
religions. I actually think the Koran is very evil,
and is amazes me how moderate Muslims try to
sugar-coat what their book says. All I was trying to
say was I think we should debate with a point, a
reason, a goal. I think some replies to Pastor Ken was
so belittling, mocking, and were negative personal
attacks. Debates should raise all points in scrutiny.
I just think we need to be open-minded when listening
to each other. I hear where you are coming from,
David. Believe me, I do. I just am confused, as Pastor
Ken is, on what your goals are for our people. I just
feel like your points have a tone which is very
anti-Assyrian, and very anti-Christianity. Also, some
points are personal attacks. I mean, you responded to
me, stating, I don't want people to think at all.
That's a total ASS-umption. Believe me, I absolutely
love to debate religion and politics with everyone!!!
I get soooo upset when people don't think, and believe
everything they hear. I live in NYC, which is totally
liberal. New Yorkers lived through September 11th, and
yet, the hillbillees in the South determined the fate
of our nation for the next 4 years. They have no idea
what it is to live through an attack on our city. Yet,
they vote for a man who claims to be Christian, and
goes killing people in the name of the Lord?? This
kills me...Let me expand on your points below......

so, i just feel

you are being very open-minded to a person who just

doesn't want to be hear another viewpoint. i actually

think it's great to bring up "negative" points in the

Bible and our history. nothing in life comes easy, and

nothing should be sugar-coated. i just feel there has

to be a positive motive to shed light on issues, no

matter how horrible they may be. if the only motive of

such an individual is to mock the other person or make

alot of noise with no substance nor goal at hand, it's

so counter-productive.

…….I will not give you answers I will give you only
questions. Such as who stands to gain from Assyrian
support for the American invaders/occupiers? What are
the reasons for the US to stay in Iraq now that they
have “liberated” it? Could the fuelling of a civil war
be the excuse the Americans use for not leaving Iraq?
Are the Iraqis the ones really blowing up the Shiite
mosques and our Assyrian churches or could this be a
CIA supported ploy to maintain support for the
occupation? So many questions not enough enquirers.
***I agree somewhat. I don't really buy the total
conspiracy theory, yet I most certainly do not rule
out some events are arranged by the CIA/our
government. I never lived in Iraq, so I cannot blame
Assyrians who voted for Bush to "win" this war. I was
so upset to see our people vote for him. Yet, it's not
my place to judge, as I did not live through their
experiences. However, what gets me the most, is
Americans-including Assyrians-who believe Bush is a
Christian. I read in one of your emails something
about so-called "christian america". My biggest
struggle with others and my own faith is to understand
one thing-a point you stated-listen to the song, not
the singer. now, bush and all these "self-righteous
right-winged Christians" are not actually Christians.
I had to realize with my own relationship with God is
I had to separate myself with their belief. They only
use the guise of the Word and religion for their own
personal gains-ie, $$$$ for oil, etc. But,
Christianity is NOT the cause of this war or
evil-doings you refer to. It is the people who USE it
as an excuse to justify their actions. But, one thing
I can say, God knows. It is only up to Him to
determine their fate on judgment day. And, it is such
a shame people mix up the belief in Jesus with these
knuckleheads making a mockery of our faith. I travel
around the world, and that's the first thing I
hear-BUSH!!! Blah blah blah! It kills me! i can't
stand him. One, as an American and two-as a Christian.
He is mocking our nation and my religion. It is
testing my faith all the time. THe questions on how I
can believe in a religion which allows this war, etc.
to happen. I have to explain it is not our God, it is
wolves dressed in sheeps' skins. The Bible also says
people will say they know me-with their mouth, not
with their heart. So, I hope you can understand where
this all is coming from. Please, please, please...try
to understand it is not God/Jesus who justifies all
this mayhem our cowboy pres is causing. It is Bush
himself who twists the Word for his own liking. I
struggle with my faith everyday, but one thing I can
say. God is good! God is love. and, I haven't seen any
other belief in this world who can profess the same.
I'm a testimony. As crazyyyyyy as it sounds.....:)
Being a Christian is about your personal relationship
with God...it's not about an actual
religion/institution. Unfortunately, many
denominations-especially catholics(ooof, another
topic), do not realize this. I am not sure which
church you grew up in, but I hope it didn't make you
jaded in God. I was jaded for 10 years. Now, I know
the truth. I'm not trying to preach to you, but I
really would hope you hear other viewpoints witohut
making personal attacks or stating who is right/wrong.
Noone is right or wrong. We all are entitled to our
beliefs. Hope this clarified things! :)

have a great week!!

Christine
