...didn`t get anything..but it reminds me..there are NO Arabs in Iraq, unless they are visiting from Arabia. It`s like calling people the "Brits of America...or the Germans of New York.

Arabs are the people born in Arabia...period. If you`re going to call anyone who professes Islam an "Arab" simply because the religion originated in Arabia, then America is filled with Jews and is a Jewish nation...and Jews live in Canada and England and France...or at the least Israelis do...because Christianity originated in Israel...that`s a little silly...no?

Likewise for the language...Americans almost speak English...they don`t speak American...not as an official and distinct language...but just because our common language comes from England that still does not MAKE us English forever and ever...we are Americans who speak English...Iraqis are Iraqis who speak Arabic...there are Egyptians who happen to have the same religion as those of the country Islam originated in, that does not make them Arabs either..but Egyptians of the Muslim faith who SPEAK Arabic...as Americans are people of the Christian-Jewish faith who SPEAK the language of an entirely diferent country: England.

As far as a Pan-Arab movement in which people from different Muslim nations saw themselves as united by a common denominator...that happned to be the Arab name, plus the place of the origin of their religion and language..that`s no different than a European Union that shares a cultural core identity and religion..even though in the case of Europe they speak different languages AND the common religion came from an entirely different region...it`s a cultural thing..just like Americans are from a European background...for the most part still...Muslims in the MidEast have a common Arab element running through all of them...but it does not make them all Arabs....no more than Christianity makes all Christians Israelis..or the English language makes all Australians Britishers.

If we begin to speak straight, maybe we`ll think straighter and who knws, maybe one day we`ll behave in accordance.
