Maggie-“Who else would be so brazen to post this hatefulness on a public forum other than Fred Aprim.?

“A Different Kind of Pride & Prejudice”

Maggie-Fred Aprim’s kind of Pride and Prejudice

“Rebecca Simon-California “

Maggie-Rebecca Simon is a teenager attending Stanford University This is what daddy is paying for her to learn. She is a young and impressionable child and Fred Aprim’s friend in the Chaldo/Assyrian Movement, and the only recruit he could find who didn’t know it’s embarrassing to write such an article and was willing to publicly humiliate herself for him.. Ms. Simon was recently featured in Nineveh Magazine as one of the hosts of international students visiting Stanford. I wonder if Stanford will let her play this role again, if they saw her article.

“In some ways, it is quite refreshing to read Ms. Yonan's words of optimism. Her article in the June 25th, 2005 issue of Zinda titled “Pride and Prejudice” reminded me of the innocent world of free spirited children who see their surrounding through the eyes of absolute idealism.”

Maggie-I would rather be a child than a SHE-DEVIL.

“ Unfortunately, our world is not as children would like it to be, rather one of what adults have made it to be”

Maggie-She means the kind of adults who have jaded her and turned her into an ugly person.

“Therefore, one needs to view the world through mature experiences in order for one to survive.”

Maggie-How can a teenager be mature and have mature experiences? Additionally, how have our people survived living in this kind of a boxed-in environment, where prejudice and hatred have shrunk their numbers to a minimum?

“There are certain truths in what she has stated.”

Maggie-Of course there are truths, because I am speaking of the masses, not just my “favorite” people.

“However, Fred Aprim’s June 18th article titled: “The Hallucination of the so-Called Moslem Assyrians”, does not repudiate the love of God to his children.”

Maggie-Oh yes it does. He blatantly calls Muslims murderers, and writes, “Christian Assyrians could not co-exist with Muslim Arabs, now or in the future.” This means they are not fitting to have a Christian living next to them, and therefore undeserving of the love of God.

“ Rather, Mr. Aprim’s claim, as I understood it, is one of Moslem man’s shortcomings and not of Christ‘s.”

Maggie-You didn’t understand it this way, you were made to understand it this way by Fred Aprim.

“Ms. Yonan has mentioned examples of Moslems’ kindness to Assyrians. There is no doubt that groups of people should not be painted with a wide brush. Yet, for every one of your stories of Assyrians’ appreciation of a Moslem’s generosity, there are thousands of stories of pain and suffering in the hands of Moslems.”

Maggie-Name me one. I was born and raised in Iraq, and never once heard of a Muslim raping, torturing, killing a Christian Assyrian. Our family never once suffered at the hands of Muslims, with their Sahraaia law and all.

“ With no trepidation of being labeled prejudice”

Maggie-Really?

“ I would like to respectfully remind you of a history replete with Islam’s atrocities against our Assyrian people. I, like many other Assyrians, can look into my own family’s past and account for murders, rapes, and injustices committed against us in the hands of Moslems in the Middle East.”

Maggie-Name us one. Don’t just make up stories.

“ My own mother can retell her account of the horrific murder of her brother and father, as well as other heads of households of her village, by the Iranian Kurds only in the last century. My grandmother’s emotional remembrances of the mass exodus of Assyrians from Iran in 1914 and again in 1918 attest to the accuracies of such travesties.”

Maggie-We all have such stories, but they were during war times. War turns the most civilized person into a barbarian.

“Islam’s aggression against other nations such as Greece, Spain, India to mention a few, and recently against our beloved country, the Great United States of America,”

Maggie-Your beloved country, the USA, has a long history of committing genocide against the people of this world, starting with the Indians, all the way to today’s war against Iraq. You are young, so I will forgive you for your silliness, but I refer you to a very good book to start your education on the role of the USA and it’s oppression of the world. It’s called “The Washington Connection and Third World Fascism” by Noam Chomsky. In this book you will learn how your beloved USA has created fascistic leaders, like Saddam, Marcos, Allende, Bota, and hundreds of others who the USA installed as dictators of their countries so that it would be able to rape and pillage these nations in exchange for power and glory of one dictator.

“I humbly admit that unlike her, I have not devoted the last twenty years of my life studying the world religions.”

Maggie-Then on what basis are you speaking so authoritatively on the religion of Islam.?

“ Despite claiming of no scholarly knowledge of the religions, I am aware of some simple facts about Islam. These facts put Islam in a separate category from Christianity. Unlike Jesus, Mohammed did not convert people by turning the other cheek rather he used the might of his sword.”

Maggie-I would like for you to provide the book in which this is written I have never read this book.

“he lusted for a nine year old little girl and took her for a wife as an addition to his numerous wives in his harem.”

Maggie-I would like to see the book in which this is written, also. This is no more than an old tale of house-wives.

“he married his own daughter-in-law because he had seen her bare face and had fallen in love with her causing his step son to divorce her.”

Maggie-Is this actually written in the Quran? Or are you making these stories up? I have never read this in the Quran.

“ It is to no surprise that to this day, these philosophies have been allowed to be practiced legally by followers of Mohammed throughout the Middle East.”

Maggie-Are you now going to police the whole world? There are many non-Muslim people who live differently than we do. Like the Wintu and the Trobriand tribes who send their young sons with a warior to learn hunting and fighting. The young boys sleep with their masters, cook for them and become just like a wife to them, but when they have learned the skills of a warrior, they are sent back to their village. Only then does the tribe consider them fit for marriage. What about the Thai prostitutes who erect an altar with a phallic symbol and pray that more men frequent their house to increase their income? Are you going to hate all these cultures and wish them dead, and not want them to exist in your world? So how many of these people should we hate and kill?

“ It is therefore why Mr. Aprim is so ambivalent about believing that Christians and Moslems can peacefully coexist, no matter by what name they call their ethnicity.”

Maggie-Sounds like Fred Aprim has bigger problems than we originally thought. Additionally, we have already proven that Fred Aprim doesn’t even believe in the Christianity he professes to be practicing, nor does he believe in the very Bible he totes before the world. And to boldly say, “no matter what name they call their ethnicity” tells us that Fred Aprim hates everyone, equally.

“The proof is the immense animosity between Sunnis and Shiias, even though, both groups share the same religion and nationality. Why then they cannot peacefully coexist on the same land? I think we should all deduce the answer to this why.”

Maggie- The same can be said about the Catholic animosity to a Church of the East people. Or the animosity between Catholics and Protestants. Have you ever heard of the Reformation? No? Maybe because you are too young and simple-minded, and you need a little more education under your belt.

“I must respectfully disagree with Ms. Yonan's other premise calling all the people on earth as Assyrians because they all originated from Assyria.”

Maggie-Then why don’t you tell us where the Arabs did originate from if not the Middle East, which was once know as the Assyrian Empire?

“If we use the same logic, then we should all be little Adams and Eves with no regard to evolutions brought about by centuries if not millenniums that have passed by.”

Maggie-Who said there was no evolutionary change which contributed to the development of various cultures from the original source of ONE culture, ONE people? We know ONLY Homo-sapiens came from Cro-Magnon, whose roots can be traced to Mesopotamia.

“By the same token, to take this issue to the extreme, all plants, animals, and humans are made up of an aggregate of living molecules.”

Maggie-Exactly. So what makes you so special?

“ Hence, we should all be categorized as a plain and uniform unit of matter.”

Maggie-We should. That would surely end all wars.

“The truth is that even masses of lands change through time; sometimes in matter of seconds such as the impact of the recent tsunami on the map of the continent of Asia.”

Maggie-And who said that changes don’t occur to topography? This is precisely what makes some of you think we are not the same as we used to be.

“Even if we assume that man originated from Assyria, how can we imprison our thoughts in a vacuum dismissing the factor of time and call billions of the earth population, Assyrians?”

Maggie-Well then maybe you can tell us why Historians call Assyria the Cradle of civilization. Or why Linguists say all alphabets originated from the Akkadian cuneiform. So if we gave language, culture, writing, science, mathematics, astronomy, and engineering to the world and then in turn each group went on their own to develop their own unique culture, why can’t we say all people of the world came from the same source?

“ I take issue with the term Assyrian being used as a generic name for mankind.”

Maggie-Well then you have a problem. Because the word Assyrian means SHURAYA, Beginning, (as in the beginning of mankind.).

“I would like to think that we are a unique people with distinct cultural characteristics and therefore certain rights in the sociopolitical arena.”

Maggie- What people on this earth are not unique and therefore have certain rights in the sociopolitical arena? How are we different than anyone else? At least if we are the same in our inalienable rights, we have a case for a homeland of our own, just like every other group.

“Finally, Ms. Yonan has attempted to answer four out of five of Mr. Aprim’s questions regarding issues of Assyrians in relation with Iraq and Moslems. However, her idealism is at work again as she attempts to answer these questions by using big IF’s such as: “IF Assyria… was a secular government…comprised of all Assyrians” or “Imagine IF Assyria…was a secular government and the Iraqi parliament was not formed on the basis of how many religious seats were allotted to the Shiia, the Sunni, the Christians.” She also presumes a perfect world in Iraq where everyone lives in harmony and respect for one another.”

Maggie-For a non-Iraqi you sure presume to know a lot about Iraq. You have never even been to Iraq to know that we did all live in harmony until the Imperialists came lusting after our wealth. Like the vultures they are, they will not leave us alone until they have nothing left to stay for.

“A presumption that has proven false to those non-Moslems who have lived in the Middle East for generations.”

Maggie-Where is the proof? Or are these just your own assumptions?

“For all those who have been persecuted in Saudi Arabia for wearing a cross or owning a Bible”

Maggie-Who, if not the Imperialists, created Saudi Arabia?

“ for all those in Iran who have been detained, tortured, and/or executed for daring to convert to Christianity”

Maggie-Did you know that Iran has a very large Christian population that’s protected by the government? And each ethnicity has a seat in the parliament?

“ and for all those in Pakistan who have been burned alive in their churches because they wanted to worship Christ”

Maggie-Unlike you, who has never been to Pakistan, I go there every year to visit my old college friends, and know hundreds of Christian Americans and English living and thriving in Pakistan. They own all the best mansions, they are the only ones that frequent the exclusive clubs, they have servants, and are driven by a chauffer, whereas the real Pakistanis live in ghettos. In Karachi alone, the most respected church is St. Thomas. Same in India. Christianity thrives in India, and Mar Aprim can attest to the fact there are millions of Christians living and thriving in India. Assyrians from church of the East have their own churches, seminary, and printing press.

“ and all others who have been massacred for being Christian in Middle East eager to coexist with their peaceful Moslem brothers and sisters, those big IF’s have been nothing but a farce and a far reaching dream.”

Maggie-Imperialistic Wars caused the massacres of the Assyrians. Not Islam. It was Imperial Brittain who caused the massacres of the Assyrians both during WWI and Simel.

“In conclusion, I sense that Ms. Yonan is a well intentioned Assyrian searching for resolutions through peaceful means. I confess that I am different from her in that regard.”

Maggie-That’s for sure.

“ I firmly believe that a well justified prejudice, in all facets of life, is a prerequisite to survival. Consequently, one should take pride in that kind of prejudice that leads one to a guarantee of an enhanced life.”

Maggie-Surviving is not living. It is a mere existence. Survival does not guarantee you a quality life, not in any facet.

You are thinking that it is a prerequisite that little girls like you must have certain prejudices in order to catch a rich man, from a very famous family, that will put you up in a mansion, in Beverly Hills, and you’ll be driven in limousines, and will have lunch on Rodeo Drive but be miserable for the rest of your life, and you will be thinking you have an enhanced life.
