Other important discoveries proved that the Assyrians kept their customs long time after the fall of Nineveh, for example the Greek King Antioch I (280-262 B.C) is saying that he would be proud to be the highest priest of the Easagila (Mardukh temple), which means that the Assyrian God was still worshipped (2) .

……...Actually our god Marduk was the chief deity of our Babylonian Empire which was ruled by our Chaldean dynasty. But how typical and convenient of you to use this piece of evidence to justify our Assyrian existence to strangers, while you continue to deny our Chaldean ancestry to our very own people in another.

And in this very argument lies the very key to our misunderstood identity.

If we are to truly acknowledge the achievements - such as writing, mathematics and science – of our Sumerian ancestors, then we equally should be proud of our Babylonian (Chaldean) ancestors’ achievements – hanging gardens of Babylon, Law Code of Hammurabi - and of course our Assyrian ancestors’ achievements – libraries, zoos, observatories.

But who’s to say we should stop there. Our ancestors continued to civilise the know world under our Arab (Abbasid) Empire in which we had street lamps and a bath on every street corner while Europe was burning witches at the stake and ignorantly persecuting Jews because of the bubonic plague.
