In all cases I can think of whenever the letter "c" is followed by the letters "e" and "i" it makes an "s" sound and not the "k" sound it does when the vowles "a", "u" and "o" follow it. Except in one instance and it's driving me nuts almost.

That would be in the case of the word "sceptic", which is pronounced "skeptic" but by all rights should be read as "septic" if you follow the rules. In a few cases I've found a hardy soul or two who will spell the word the only way it makes sense, considering this is the English language...and that is, "skeptic".

Where's Miss Grimm when you need her?
