Re: History tells:Iraq is the land of the Assyrians

...Aha. This must mean it has to be "returned" to them. This is the part I don't get...I mean for people who claim to have a grasp of REAL history...where did they ever get the notion, or see even one example, of any nation returning anything to anyone? Yet they go on like mad hens clucking away as if this sort of thing happens all the time and when will it be their turn?

Azizta Nineve,
Thank you very much for this very powerful article. This shows that some educated Iraqis know their country's history, but they were not able to show it in public, now when they are a free nation, they will say it without fear.

...there isn't a Muslim or cannibal alive today who says Assyrians were NOT one of the original People of BetNahrain. Those same people know the Apaches came before the Dutch and Moctezuma before the Spaniards, so what?... the list of displaced people goes on and on...as was the case in BetNahrain ages ago where new desert tribes moved in and changed the existing cityscape.

...What no one will do is return anything to anyone. That goes AGAINST history..it is not the way in which People change and grow, no matter how painfull it's been historically for those who are moved out...who earlier themselves moved others out. This is a taboo subject among our ditzier nationalists because to accept the fact of it sort of blows their accumulated nonsense to shreds.

...Besides which they mean something entirely differnet by "Assyrian"..they mean Christian and ONLY Christian..and then ONLY if you "talk a lot about it". I'm not considered a true Assyrian because I don't talk a lot about it...I went out and DID something about it..that makes me an enema to these sorts of "activists". When their dreams go rancid they will merely say..."we TRIED". But to try dilligently at counting the stars is to waste your time...no matter how patriotic or "hopefull" you feel about it as the number gets higher.

...The boys prefer nonsense-mongering in the guise of "dreaming" because there's no way in hell you can measure their success. It's like remaining at the starting line of the Indy 500...reving your engine and gripping your wheel fiercely....but refusing to let the cluch out and actually move forward..so long as your race car remains clean and spotless, shiny and bright...so long as your engine roars and grunts, albeit in neutral...so long will your female realtions in the stands think you MIGHT win...if only you'd risk the first turn in the road, but everyone conveniently forgets that, so taken are they with the smoke and noise and POTENTIAL of it all....but the boys won't even come out of the garage...so naturally this "nation" maintains great hopes for them...even as the sun goes down and the winner and the rest of the people go hoome...the boys are still in the garage racing engines and dreaming of a victory lap they COULD win...if only...if only.

And the silliest thing of all is that they're too busy ALMOST doing something..and something grand and never heard of before..to bother with the little things we could do to begin building a culture...and it's the fruit of our rich culture people know us by today.

...we have no soul, not an Assyrian one. Long before it became Arabized or Westernized it got Jewishfried.
