Everything aside as far as Dr. Michael's Kurdishiness, but it takes immense courage to sit up there at the IST and give your testimony without being behind the witness curtain (which she chose to do).

Also in the cross-examination section she really holds her own. It's in Arabic, no subtitles. :)

I am shocked to find that they don't even have a stenographer on this court! The testimony is taken by shorthand (or longhand, who freakin' knows, the judge kept interrupting her to repeat to the rapporteur). I don't understand why they don't make the video the testimony record, but whatever.

BTW, the judge presiding over Dr. Michael's testimony got dumped yesterday. Last week, when Saddam went on a tirade about not being a dictator, this judge said "everyone knows you weren't a dictator." Here's an article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060919/ap_on_re_mi_ea/saddam_trial

So the powers that be wasted no time in canning him... He had replaced the other judge who stepped down because he was getting threatened. Hello, Justice (Iraqi-style)!
