Dear All, I. Good News! Good news! The request for an Assyrian Province was formally presented to the Iraqi Government for the first time on September 19 at 5:58 PM at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York. II. Iraqi Government The request was formally received by the Iraqi Foreign Minister who was very appreciative as he had been the one to suggest it. It was the Iraqi Foreign Minister who said `The Assyrians are the original people of Iraq. They are entitled to a province of their own in their original homeland but they must formally request it.` We formally requested it! Further, it was also given to the Iraqi President, Iraqi Ambassador and the American Ambassador to Iraq who has assigned a staff member to implement our request. III. Signed Receipt The request was formally presented in the name of The Assyrian Nation and was signed for, dated and receipted so it can be followed up by a Congressional Resolution and other resolutions from the EU and other interested parties. IV. Thank you! We would like to thank Mr. Shakat Gabrail of the Netherlands who translated the document into Arabic and Mr. Hannibal Travis, Professor of International Law at Florida International University who rewrote the English request and the Congressional resolution. Thank you, both for doing it when nobody else would and for getting it done in time to present formally to the Iraqi Government. V. Nexst Step The next step is to follow up on the formal request and have the Congressional Resolution signed by each member of the International Relations Committee and Foreign Relations Committees of the United States Congres demanding that the Iraqi Government implement the request. Thank you for the many who helped, prayed and got the word out. Anyone able to help with getting signature of each Congressman in Washington and putting together a similar resolution at the EU are asked to contact as soon as possible. The first step was passed! Than you for your kind help and support! If you can help please send a note to: help@keikyo.com --------------------- |
