How come there aren't any modern day Michelangelo?

...you should have SEEN the fawning emails about my "great art" she sent me...when she was also suggesting we have a tryst. Where do we GET these people from...god?

I am a big fan of all art but especially sculpture, and I just saw the most dissappointing series of "modern" sculpture,

...you didn't just see it...you told me all about your visit to the site a year ago...can the sincere stuff...just get to the meat of your madness.

and I realized what the problem with that field of art is. And that is that there aren't any real sculptors anymore.

...who has the time? What with stalking and harrassing and demonizing and simonizing you...who has time for art anymore???

This one in particular was dissappointing in the almost cartoon like nature of his depictions. I sometimes wonder if some only focus on the head because they don't have the real talent to depict the human form in porportion,

...I wish you'd focus more on your's.

the nuances of muscles and body poses and in the detail like a Michelangelo, or are just too lazy or lack vision to see meaning and message and even movement in the right pose, the right expression, the right nuanced gesture.

...I'm hardly the only "non-Michaelangelo" around.

This site had some nice head sculptures but even that they did not capture the sense of a real or even historical mind and soul and it was just a good fascimile.

...well...give credit where credit is due.

And no details in the folds where any really great artist knows how to bring life to the dead, both materials and subject matter.

...you want to see folds in a HEAD? Could it be because you have creases in your's?

And one of a woman that made me wonder if this man/woman sculptor has ever seen a real woman, especially naked to know how a woman' body flows, and never felt its contour or watched it move, or for that matter ever did more than see himself and not see into any other human being to be a real artist and depict that.

...well...you know who I am...and you know I didn't want to see YOUR body nekkid..or otherwise.

I especially wondered on the butchness of a female sculptor that maybe this was a misogynist

...you wondered about BOTH?

or one that did not appreciate the female form nor soul or think women have neither for it was the most vacant capture of the essense of feminitiy and the power of myth in a woman's eyes, mouth, hair, breats, feet and hands even. This was just a cartoon cutout of what I want in my sculptures.

...sweetcheeks...YOU are one dismal example of womanhood...never mind humanhood. Anyone who knew you would NOT know anything about a woman...but he WOULD know a nut job from then on.

..but, thanks for the visit...come again, or EVER.

Well, that is my art critique for this week. I am off to critique some watercolor art work now.

,,,can't wait.

Note names of the artists have been omitted to protect the fragile egos of pretentious artists. But all that said we all have an artist in us and all art is worthwhile and has beauty even if the artist themselves are not. And as someone on one of these forums said you can't like an artist solely based on ethnicity and that without nuances and some really compelling voice or vision it can become boring and even trite.

...this is true...also true of nut job art critics.

You roving art critique... because just like books, art should be crtiqued with a critical eye too! and none gets a free pass because they keep telling us how great THEY think they are.

..."NO ONE"...you boob. Can art critics at least be literate...or they too great to bother?
