I heard a different version of this joke when I was in Baghdad a few years ago:

A young man, while speaking to an older man, sees a beautiful young woman descending the stairway. He looks at her and says, "masha'a Allah". The old man says to him, "hey that's my daughter you are referring to". The young man says "astakhfar Allah". The old man says "but of course if you want to marry her, that's different". The young man says, "Insha Allah".
