I had an interesting, semi-related conversation with a friend today.

She described a situation where her and her friends (all in their 20s) agreed that while, years ago, it was so easy to be so passionate, interested, and angry with regard to the direction that our country has taken.

However, nowadays when she hears on the radio that our forces have attacked here in Iraq, there in Afghanistan, it just sounds like noise and she pays no attention. She likened it to a point in the book 1984 where one of the characters comments that it doesn't matter that their country is at war with A, because next week it will be at war with B, and everyone will have forgotten about the war with A.

America is at that point now.

We can wage war with any country, and the gullible populace won't rebel, won't remember the past wars and mistakes made and lessons (never) learned... and the cycle of death, destruction, mayhem, and violence can continue.

The little that we can do is to just do good in our lives and try to improve the immediate world around us. Voting won't help...

Either that, or move to another country (Mexico, somewhere in Europe...), or join the non-existant resistance.

Their such a bunch of weasels...but Liberals deserve every trouncing they get. We've reached critical mass...it is no longer possible to maintain the myth of a two party system...recent corruption scandals just coming to light show that both parties are there for their own personal bottom lines...both Dems and Repubs have a vested interest in not rocking the boat all their stock portfolios are tied to...
