...hmmmmmm.

Years and years ago while watching teevee I was startled by a Granny Goose potato chip commercial that showed a sweet, adorable little girl of about six, holding a bag of said potato chips in hand....her father is watching her with great interest, obviously hungry for some chips...he asks his daughter if he can have ONE...she refuses.

The commercial voice says something like "get your own". The father smiles sadly...little daughter bitch keeps her hold on the bag and I hoped she choked later in life.

That commercial scared me...it really did. It was a first shot over the bows...like the first article I read in 1980-something about this HUGE army Saddam had...these are first indications...trial baloons...testing the waters...

The word from Madison Avenue was that it's cute and charming to be selfish...that way you sell more bags of potato chips. We've been bombarded by selfish images ever since...why should Granny Goose lose sales...why should people share among themselves if it's going to
"cost jobs"?

...people see no immediate benefit to themselves in having a healthy community...they don't much care any more if they have a healthy country or even healthy families. The need to make a buck any way you can is taking its toll. Making a widget to make a buck is no longer the goal..it's now JUST making a buck. That's what drove Enron, it's what got Martha Stewrat, it's behind the Iraq war and the coming war against Iran...we've become so cynnical and devoid of meaning that all we have left, at the highest levels of government, is a drive to make more money...there is literally "not enough" money to be made...there is never an amount that is enough..it's like a disease...

And since, as they keep reminding us when we say there doesn't seem to be enough for health care or schools, that they can't just print more of the stuff...that can only mean that they're taking what exists already in circulation, away from someone. Taking it from each other is part of their game...but the really big amounts they take away from the majority who can ill afford to lose even ten bucks.

When they brag about the number of new millionaires and billionaires each year, this is not an indication of a healthy economy..or a successful system...it would be if these people FOUND the money under rocks, like gems or something...but they don't find it there...they get their extra money by TAKING it from the rest of us...we lose money each year so more of it can wind up in their hands....that isn't a formula for success, not for the overall health of the nation.

...just a ramble.....
