These sort of events in most part is for lobbying. Lobbying who? The Iraqi Christians or non Iraqi Christians? for what? to raise money? money for what? People or Pride?

If these people were smart they would have put the donated funds into a better use perhaps infrastructure(s) to make the people self sufficient first instead of schools and dorms.
