"Also if God has been with us then I'd hate to seem him against us. In case you've missed it the recent war in Iraq has seen arounf 2,000 Assyrians die and over half the population flee. Meanwhile our peoples' attention is on two bishops who are vying for the Patriarchal seat whil our Patriarch sits idly by and acts senile."

***Mr. Chibo, I cannot explain the wondrous mystery of God and the manner in which He works but we have left everything in his hands for thousands of years and God will not in His Divine Majesty forget us. And don't attempt to tell me what is going on in my Church. I am sorry but to me you are a traitor to my Church. That does not mean I am against you. Like a Christian I forgive and I am quite happy to accept you when you see the light and decide to return to the flock. Don’t you dare call my Patriarch senile! Don’t you even dare for a minute. I am not getting into a discussion of the affairs of the Assyrian Church of the East at this point although you should be aware, beyond the silly concoctions your minds creates, that their are no bishops vying for the Patriarchal seat! May the Lord take from the years of my life and give them to our Holy Patriarch. And for that matter he is not YOUR Patriarch as you say, you are not a Christian (by your own admission) and hence do not belong to my Church (and any Church) and are not under the Patriarch's authority.

"Hate to be the bearer of bad news but every Biblical scholar admits that that story is a legend i.e. a polite way of saying a fake. There never was a letter it was used by our church to add a little lustre to its name. Besides the Armenians also claim that they were the first people in the world to accept Christianity. And finally to add further proof Christianity was established 100 years after Jesus, so if true the legend is actually refering to Abgar and Edessa converting to Judaism NOT Christianity at that period of time. It's as silly as the Yemenites stating that they converted to Islam in 500AD."

***Indeed the Armenians do claim to have been the first Nation to convert although countless scholars, among them Dr. Christoph Baumer a leading Church of the East scholar will attest to the fact that the Assyrians did indeed convert in Edessa. And if you don’t believe them all I can say is 'have a little faith'.

"%%% Let me post it for all to see.
Psalm 137:8-9 daughter of aBabylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
That line specifically states 'happy shall HE (Jehovah) be.' So my question is how can you call your ancestors the greatest people who have ever lived in one breathe and call their religion and their gods pagan and then try and convince us that Christianity and its holy books with quotes such as the one above are a good thing?"

***If you were posting the verse for me you didn’t have to, I am familiar with it, I do have a Bible you know; And if it was for others than that is fine. I do not understand your point. I am telling you that my ancestors were some of the greatest people who ever lived and who then converted from their religion of worshipping Ashur and other things like Istar etc. and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their God.

"%%% Feel free to follow any god you choose. But please show more respect to others who have returned to our true religion and who are willing to tolerate all religions. Religion itself is"

***You see Mr. Chibo when you use the term "to our true religion" is the point at which you begin to offend me. I am willing to tolerate any religion; I do so in my everyday life as have Assyrians for so many years even through hardship. But when you state that YOU and people LIKE YOU follow the true religion of the Assyrians is incorrect. If indeed Ashur was the true God of Assyrians and not Lord Jesus Christ why then did Ashur allow the millions of Assyrians to convert to Christianity. Goodness knows that there is no documented historical evidence to suggest that anyone was in the Middle East who forced the Assyrians as a Nation or ethnic group to convert to Christianity. So tell me, when did Assyrians start following Christianity, en masse, according to your logic?

***A supplementary question if you will, if you do not accept Lord Jesus Christ as you God and Saviour and worship Ashur and Gilgamesh why do I recall you attending the Christmas Mass of the Assyrian Church of the East in Melbourne some 2-3 years ago?
