...the California city where the Shumirum is going up has completed funding for their new library, all 30 mil...it's a lovely site too...on a hill surrounded by Cypress trees overlooking a small lake....perfect setting. the city has accepted the Shumirum and is "eagerly" looking forward to installing it...they especially like the connection to Ashurbanipal and the Assyrian history of learning and books and all things libraryish.

I still would have preferred Chicago...but, under the circumstances, I'm pleased to see the Shumirum WELCOMED by someone....odd...it was NEVER Americans or Turks or anyone else who had the slightest negative thing to say..it was always our own dipshits...scared shitless that we'll actually come to be known and that great things might be expected of us...instead of the "books" Aprim prints on his desktop that have made him the hysterian of assria.

Had a dumb argument with Narsai...he insisted I was spelling her name wrong..that it was not "Shumirum" but "Shamiram"...now I ask you, when we SAY it, it comes out ShUMirUM...not Shaaaamiraaaam. It's like that most unfortunate of all books, the Pshutta...which our dingabts spell out as PISHEETA...which I actually like...although it's pronounced PSHUTTA.

We didn't have vowels the same as in English...we have to write our words, in English, the way they SOUND, phonetically, in English...Narsai and the rest LOOK at Shamiram and say shUMirUM...but I'm not supposed to make the spelling conform to the SOUND. Why? Probably because of Wikepedia...

Like I told Aprim...he can write whatever he wants to...but monuments NEVER lie.

They're also going to place a bronze plaque on the pedestal with the history of Shumirum on it. I'm not mentioning the name of the city...Aprim will write to "warn them".
