Hi people,

Just wanted to let you all know that both Asuma and I are safe and sound in Mexico City, touring the ancient Teotihicuan Pyramids today.

We’ve been in Mexico City for around 4 days now after the most relaxing time in Tikehau, an Island of Tahiti. Photos of this can be seen on www.chibo.com.au
Learning Spanish is a little tough. It took us two days to realise that the area where our hotel is located, called Zona Rose, literally translates to the pink zone. Needless to say it’s very entertaining and a lot of fun. I have to always be on alert to wear my wedding band as a Spanish boy called Huleo keep hitting on me.

Yesterday we visited Café Habana on Cuba street in Mexico city. This was the place (over 50 years ago now) where legendary Fidel Castro and Che Guevara first met in 1955, planning their revolutionary tactics for Cuba, forming the 26th of July movement. Later Che Guevara became Castro's chief lieutenant soon after the rebel invasion of Cuba in 1956, in which he proved to be a resourceful guerrilla leader. The café was magnificent with pictures of Havana hanging on the wall and 1950s type decorations.

Viva la revolutione!

Tomorrow we fly tomorrow to Cancun which is on the East coast of Mexico. There we have a hotel room overlooking Cancun’s white sandy beaches. Rumour has it that they had to replace the entire white sound by shipping in sand from the Sahara after Hurricane Katrina washed away the sand that was originally there.

We will try and keep in touch when we have access to the net.

Adios Amigoes,
