...if only people would stop scratching their heads in wonder at the multiple failures of the federal government...stop wondering to themselves why so many people would raise and spend so much cash, invest so much time...only to fail miserably at their jobs...if only they'd remember the Gingrich "War On America", when a host of hot neo-cons were elected to office to "clean up the mess"...and set about dismantling federal programs...if only they remembered that almost all of the advances in social security and civil rights and women's rights and Gay rights in America were carried through because of the clout of the Federal Government and how much our backward states resented this....they'd stop scratching their heads and realize that this is precisely what these people set out to do.

The federal government may be failing us...but that's because it's being attacked from within..."State's Rights" people are no longer simply vilifying the federal government...they've entered it. They see that as the best way to make it ineffectual...so they can go back to their good old days.
