There is a onbiously a huge misunderstanding or misconception among some of these so called fighters of "Assyrianism" and they seem to think that ancient Assyria is a secret or something. It is not a secret that almost all Iraqis are Mesopotamian. Iraq is proud of it's heritage and so was Saddam. Some of these people have this stupid absurd idea that somehow there are Muslims who are afraid to say they're Assyrian lol. What kind of crap is this? Just because person no longer speaks a language or has a different faith, it don't mean the person can not admit being something. I can't believe this joke. I am a revert to Islam and everyone of my friends knows what I am and I don't hide nothing. It is God who created us into differen't nations and tribes and that is not something that has to be hidden.

Every Muslim knows what he or he is and no one hides his race. Just as there are people in the west who no longer speak their native language the same goes for others. It is up to the individual and the family to decide if preserving their language is important or not. Nobody forced the many Assyrians in Canada and elsewhere to forget their language, but they chose to speak English and it got to a point that they forgot their language and the next generation may become worse. That is their choice and not fear or whatever.

It is not a secret at all that the ancient Assyrians and Babylonians are the ancastors of modern day Iraqis. It's a well known fact and not some major secret as Aprim would like to think. Just as you people believe that Assyrians became Christian in the 4th century, there were many more who became Muslim, and it was not through fear or pressure but through seeking knowledge. Like the former Assyrian priest from Urmia (Daoud Benyamin) he embraced Islam in 1904. I have his book and everything. His works are still among the top. No one forced him or anything, in fact he was pressured by his felloiw Christians and even made fun of, but I wouldn't make fun of a humble person who has a phd and seeked knowledge and accepted truth over family tradition.

So there is no secret at all about being Assyrian and having embraced Islam. It is just a matter of choice if the people maintained their language or not. Another common excuse is "oh the women make a cross in the dough when baking bread" and they assume that it is a Christian thing. If these people weren't so narrow minded and ignorant they know that this is a culture that existed before Christianity and among various people whether India, east Asia, and others. The cross was a good luck symbol and had nothing to do with Jesus(pbuh). It is something that the church made official centuries later and it had nothing to do with Jesus(pbuh). Many people were crucifies before him and after him and women use to put that in the dough before the Christian era. So, to use this as evidence is the biggest non sense. There are even native Americans and Africans who do it, and they never were Christian nor does it have anything to do with it. It is a tradition and it's a type of good luck symbol that's all there is to it.

I don't know if some of these fanatice really think that Assyria is a huge secret or they are just playing dumb. There is no secret about it and I know this for a fact. I have met many Iraqis who proudly call the Ashureen and Babyloneen their ancastors, and one of the providenses in Iraq is called "Nineveh" so is this such huge secret. I have even met Muslims with last names "Ashouri" and under Saddam many of his military battalions were named after Hamurabi, Nebuchatnesser and others. There is no conspiracy nor fear. No body fears Assyrians but it's rather "Suraye" have an imagination problem and somehow think they are so important and so much better than everyone else that the whole world just fears them. This is a mental sickness and that is what folks who know they not important behave in orde to feel important. Just as the pastors and Christian missionaries and teleevangelists have to to the extend to engage in telling lies to their congregation just to save face.

I have a great example. I was sitting with a Christian friend of mine at a fast food restaurant and there was an Army soldier who walked in. He was an American soldier who just returned from Iraq. There were an older couple whom I know from this Pentecostal church I use to go to, and they began trying to preach to the soldier and questioning him about Iraq. The soldier said "I don't know what is going on but so many of our soldiers are raising all kinds of hell in the barracks because of liquor and filthy products, and the couple thought he was speaking of Christians soldiers, he told them "no no, i mean American soldiers who have accepted Islam in Iraq recently and returned. I seen the reaction on the couple's face and they said "Moslems"? he said "yes Muslims" they said "hmm strange". My freiend told me how they are going to go straight to their pastor on tonite and gossip about the news, and of course he has to tell them something to save face. For why are these Christian soldiers who have luxorsious things given to them, they can do anything they want, have sex without a problem with a "girl friend" drink, gamble, and do anything one can imagine and trade all that in to live a life of limits and embrace the "religion of the terrorists". Now the pastor will have to come up with an answer.

Perhabs that is the reason why they don't like me to come back to their church after a couple of their long attending members embraced Islam recently and are no longer with them. They saw me as a problem I guess, but oh well may Allah(swt) guide them, inshallah. So back to the subject of Assyrian and being Muslim, this is not some secret that only Jumblat hears in private but it is something in the open, but I guess when people get their info from fools like Aprim, what does one expect? or listen to their priests who are worried about saving their chair, power, and empire which they have everything invested in. I am a Muslim and yes I speak Aramaic and I call myself Assyrian. It is not a secret nor is it something hide. I have other friends from around the globe who are Assyrian and reverts to Islam and we do not have to hide our identity nor are we Arabs. We are Assyrian, but maybe not the kind that is acceptable to the average Suraye, Fred Aprim or the priests.

Just to clear a misconception.
