Simon Parpola is an Assyriologist by qualification and many nationalists love to use him as a source but they miss a big point. Being an Assyriologist does not make one a historian on the Nestorians or of the middle east. John Joseph's qualification is the middle east and our people in particular. There is a huge difference between the two. I had a little dialogue with a nationalist earlier and he tried to show me prove that he is a direct descendant of banipal and he used Persian records in which "Assyria" and "Assyrians" are mentioned. This dreamer missed some points as they all do. First, no one has said that the ancients just suddenly disappeared. They were mixed into next wave of people. Their identity, culure, language etc vanished but of course there were remains. Secondly, the Persians ruled not long after Assyria and many Assyrians were used in the new army but that was then and this is now. A lot happens over 2500 years yet these clowns like us to believe that they are directly related to them.
