Twenty-or-so years back, it was Mark Twain's, "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", was being censored because of the character "Nigger Jim" which was softened to "slave Jim", because it made some folks "uncomfortable"... guess who these folks were/are? White folks. Now, the same shit is being played out regarding Harper Lee's, "To Kill a Mockingbird", for the same reason: it makes some people uncomfortable.
