...why is it that in none of the history books I've ever read there is no mention of Shia and Sunni "slaughtering each other for centuries"? This is what Hitchens claimed, also Jon Stewart, much to my chagrin, and many others. Yet, where's the evidence for it?

I've read a few books just on Islamic history, and by Christian authors, with no mention of such events...besides the very earliest conflicts between followers of Ali and the other side....Qmar, I believe.(???) In Will Durant there is no mention of such butchery but there are greusome accounts of the murders committed by Catholic against Protestant...in fact one such event even has its own name; the Thirty-Years War during which the population of Europe was reduced by one third with entire regions of Germany left without the sound of a human or animal for decades till people started all over again...and the Albigensian Crusade in France during which unbelievable horrors were visited on people who believed in the SAME Jesus...plus many more such Christian butcheries in the name of Jesus.

The two World Wars were fought by Christians, for the most part.

You would think Christian historians would be eager to list such Muslim murders of fellow Muslims, if they existed, if there was a shred of evidence, but there isn't.

So, enough about the inherent violence of Islam...this is merely Christians again doing what they do best, accuse others of their own crimes as a way of distracting people from those crimes they commit...same with Genocides...Christians feel slightly uncomfortable that even the word was invented to describe their crimes...and so they labor mightily to smear Muslims with the crime....but it never happened...wars? Yes. Massacres? yes....slaughter? yes again, but NOT genocide, not anything close to a Holocaust.

Aside from killing, for Christ, Christians also lie for him.
