...The main, the outstanding reason that we have no one able to earn higher degrees in the Humantities, history especially(other than Assyriology, and even there we have only recently gotten ONE) is because of the way our minds have shut down over this "we are modern assyrians" thing.

It would be like beliving the world was flat..and trying to get a degree in geography...it can't be done. We have preconceptions...outlandish things we believe because old people told us so...and we love those old people so we are compelled to never question them...thank god we don't have old people telling us the world is flat!

We have brilliant people in other fields...but not in history...because we have not the disciplined and HUMBLED minds we need to enter as novices, the way our medical students enter on their studies...we come to history CONVINCED of an absurdity...but even before we get to modern assyrian history..that same sort of midset has a warped view of Islam...of Islamic history...which means we have a warped view of Christian history where the two intersect..which covers a LOT of centuries.

In short...our minds are just scrambled enough that we don't even WANT to study history...not as an academic discipline...sure, we read...but only what suits our purposes...and that ain't the way you get advanced degrees.

That's the reason that Meeee...can make so much sense when discussing anything BUT "assyria"....because on this topic...with the nerve ends needed to understand THESE kinds of things...that part of our brains have been fried.
