In exasperation she has posted this "explanation"...as you read it, if you bother, think of all the reasons men gave for denying women, Blacks and everyone else, equal rights to them.

Hopefully, we now understand how this world went crazy after humanity implemented the Social Contract for all to abide by, and one person refused and started acting crazy because he thought he was above the law.

...do you mean like George Washington and Ben Franklin and old Tom Paine who broke the "Social Contract" with Great Britain and started "acting crazy" by shooting the King's soldiers? Do you mean that kind of social contract that must NEVER be broken, and if it is, then only be broken in ways King George, or Maggie, would approve? Like that?

From there on society had no choice but to implement laws and build prisons to keep that one individual from harming others in the society who were law-abiding citizens. And hopefully, we now also know why we have such expressions as, "ONE rotten apple spoils the whole bunch."

....good lord...she thinks people who disagree with her must wind up in prison? Has she heard of the Bill of Rights whose purpose was to PROTECT the rights of minorities, especially the right to VOICE that disagreement freely and without fear of retaliation?

For the last 8 years I have provided a free forum

...for the last 15 years we've done the same...only we've NEVER banned or deleted anyone...nor have we issued passwords without which people could not "freely" express themselves. Do you think speech should only be free when people AGREE with you? Then what would be the point of PROTECTING it?

for Assyrians with which to communicate, educate, exchange ideas and come together for the sake of our nation, paying thousands of dollars out of my own pocket over the years.

...well, we're also not into guilt-trips or a bid to draw attention to our efforts...let's just say that we won't discuss "all that I've done for you".

Instead of taking advantage of such a golden opportunity to educate, inform and teach our young Assyrians how to interact properly while engaging with others, some have taken it upon themselves to not only behave selfishly but act as bullies to prevent others from speaking their minds or writing their opinions, and have granted themselves the permission to personally insult others and attack them every chance they get.

...this is the part I can't understand....on the one hand Maggie is calling on assyrians to go back to Iraq, to seize their lands, to fight if they have to, even form an army and equip it...and I know these people don;t live in the real world but surely she must know that this would entail all sorts of danger and hardship and the level of dedication would have to be very high and determined...on the other hand she is saying that without her protection, without passwords and banning all "impolite" posts, these same heroes she is recruiting to go fight Arabs and Qurds and Turks WON'T POST!!! Really? This is the kind of soldier for assyria? A guy who will risk his life, but won't dare risk ridicule or even just opposition? really?

The reason I started this forum 8 years ago was due to the Mesopotamian forum banning people like Ashur Giwargis, Ashur Bet-Shlimon, Dr. Simon Ashuraya, me and others who’s only crime was to have a different opinion from the political platforms and single-mindedness of the owners of that forum. Although we never resorted to disrespectful dialogue and personal insults we were nevertheless banned.

...OH, I see! You wanted a place for people who AGREE WITH YOU! What then is the difference between that other forum, the one that banned you, and your own forum, which now ALSO bans people...and for the same reason: THEY DON'T AGREE WITH THE MODERATOR?

...I realize it's a big rhetorical question but have these people no SELF-awareness?

I'll be damned if I let ONE rotten apple start and continue to disrespect people whom I have come to know and love and who have never disrespected anyone with their posts.

...but you're eager to send these same people to Iraq, with guns, to fight for assyria??? But they need to be protected from INSULTS?

This forum was established for all those who love democracy and who are willing to abide by the Social Contract and will not hurt or insult others when participating.

...your notion of a social contract is also pulled from your own arse...such a contract, if it exists at all, deals with LAWS, not SPEECH! All societies have been and are RUDE...and they tolerate dissent....

This is the principal this forum was founded upon and it will never change, and we will never make exceptions for that ONE person, but will serve the interests of ALL.

...of ALL who agree with you.

We don't see anyone else on this forum acting in an uncivilized manner and personally insulting people, calling them "barking dogs" and "Cowboys" and accusing them of unsubstantiated allegations, without proving their words.

...that isn;t true either...in the past you have used these same insults against others...we dragged examples of your own insulting words over to our forum for all to see.

The old expression, "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything at all" is still the mode of operation on this forum. Those who can't follow this simple rule, don't belong here. And even after you've warned them repeatedly, they still want to act crazy, then you have to punish them by taking away their privileges.

...I think you want to run a Kindergarten, not a country.

YES, it is a privilege to post here, and no sane person would ever take advantage of a free forum and use it to abuse others, verbally, mentally, and emotionally.

...my, what tender soldiers you will make! Your forum is not free...it has never been free but always restricted...in the past you were content to scold and delete, now you're picking up the paddle...you still treat people as if they were children.

If we wanted to live in that kind of environment, we would not have come to the West for the freedom and security it provides EVERYONE, no matter what their opinion.

..."no matter what their opinion"...okay, so provide that freedom of opinion, and expression.

Contrary to what some rotten apples think, this is NOT “the Boys Club” (as he said), nor do “women belong in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant). Those days went out with the Knights and the Sirs, and today we have equality before the LAW. Besides, this WOMAN started this forum, so if you don’t respect women, you’re not going to respect this forum, and therefore you don’t belong here.

...remember when women broke a BIG social contract? Remember? And they were very rude and disruptive...the Pankhursts threw rotten eggs at Winston Churchill...they were arrested and force-fed and suffered all sorts of indignities...no one had to "protect them from rudeness" for them to succeed...maybe that's the secret...maybe the way to train your warriors is NOT to protect them from rude words...my lord, if they can't dodge a rude word or two, what will they do with bullets?

My father risked his life, his entire career and wealth to bring us to the safety of the land of equal opportunity for all. I’m not going to dishonor my father by allowing Islamacised men to abuse me and others on this forum with their “boys club” mentality.

..."Islamisized"? Is that what you've stooped to? Are you now going to use racist terms as a way to insult people? You mean any man you don;t like has been "Islamisized"? He just can't be a Christian man you don;t like? To let us know how bad a man is you have to call him a Muslim...you mean there NO bad men who are Christian?

...could it be you've forgotten the religion of your ex-husband? is that what this is all about?

This is an educational forum,

...it is? Go back over the posts and tell us what there is to learn.

and if some rotten apples can’t find an educational method by which to operate, and they get busy weaving their own rope by which to hang themselves, they can’t blame me. It’s been like that since Hammurabi times, which is why it was necessary to implement those civil laws to protect society, and it will be the same till the end of time, or until society learns how to behave responsibly without the necessity of laws and prisons.

...so, society hs to learn how to behave as you wish it to? Take it easy...your dinky forum is not the world, it is not even a society...no one is breaking any LAW...they are just expressing themselves freely....let it slide.,,you harpy

Anyone who doesn’t like the rules of this forum, can spend their own money to start their own. That way they don’t distract us and steer us away from the issues we’re trying to discuss here.

...and you people call for UNITY! Even while you encourage people to split, to "form their own", you still yell for UNITY...you're no better than the religious folk who've split and split and split again till they've made themselves meaningless.

Ashur Giwargis’ speech in Amman was all about the truth, human rights and equality before the law. I dare anyone to find a word that was not truthful, or not right or unjust in that speech. And for some to call him illicit names for the beautiful speech he made on behalf of ALL Assyrians around the world, who are leaving their homeland, their homes, their lands, their career, their wealth, to become refugees around the world, is abominable. Ashur is a young man who is a newlywed, working hard with a full-time job to support himself and family, and has the love of his nation in his heart and soul, and for him to leave his family, his job, his country, spending his own money to make speeches like this around the world, for the sake of the Assyrian nation, should be commended, respected, and supported, not called illicit names.

...this "spending our own money" is getting a little tiresome.

Let us use Ashur’s speech as an example of how to interact with each other as Assyrians first, before we condemn the Islamic world for treating us as second-class citizens. Let us clean our own house first, and use this forum for educating ourselves, by growing and learning how to treat each other like human beings, so that the rest of the world can take us seriously when we try to change how they’re treating us.

...well, you set a poor example....you have made a hothouse for rare flowers who can't function, apparently, without your protection...this is very mothering of you but hardly the way to raise tough troops. You think assyria will be won with politeness? Will you read them from Che or from Emily Post?

....at least she's out in the open...she could have just voided the password of the one rude fellow without all this bother...but she wanted to make a statement...see, she REALLY thinks she has done assyria and humanity a favor by opening this "open and free" forum..but people just won't APPRECIATE all the effort....AND expense.

...I venture to say there is much more to learn on this forum...much more. Granted we may not have a lot of people posting....so what? We're a small faculty but with a lot of students...from around the world. And we have NEVER had to ban or delete or tell people to appreciate how much we spend in cash....we do it the way we always have...by responding to every post, with FACTS and evidence, wherever remotely possible...and also with reasoned dialogue...which is open to all to participate...no passwords and no fear of being banned and no lectures about rudeness.

...at this site, if you can't stand the heat, don't cook...no one is interested in protecting you...that's YOUR responsibility...after all, these are just WORDS!

...I think the fact that so few people bother with her site has Maggie most upset...18....sometimes 25 people read a post....and for all her bluster she only has a handful of posters too...and most of them come on to say three words and khon!
