"The activists have been rallying outside Target stores since the retailer gave $150,000 to conservative Republican candidate Tom Emmer's campaign.
Gay rights supporters and progressives do not condone Target's donation to Emmer because he is an outspoken opponent of gay marriage. Liberal groups hope their rallies will deter other businesses from donating funds to elections."

....boycots are far more powerful than votes.....that dollar bill in your wallet is what all these corporations are stgriving for...they can buypoliticans easily wnough but tyhey canīt buy your dollar...YOU have to agree to spend it with them.

...to be effective a boycott doesnīt have to destroy a company...that isnīt the intention anyway...all we need do is eat into their profit margin...by ever so little...that scares the shit out of them.

..Target makes millions and billions a year but it spends millions and billions on salaries, benefits, rent, expenses, overhead, insurance etc...and none of those billions reflect profit, which is the only reason theyīre in business....if a boycot costs them $100,000 in lost sales, that amount is deducted from their profits for the year...not from what they pay in overhead, which is a constant and MUST be met.

The point of the boycot is not to destroy Target...it is to "influence" them...just as they give money to politicans to influence them...we can take money AWAY from Target to influence them....

In a raging capitalist/oligarchy hellbent on selling you goods, nothing, but nothing, is as effective a weapon against the buying of politicians than boycots....fuck the vote....which we can only give every few years and then only for those candiates ,money has already bought or who bring their own money to bear....but the almighty dollar, even one of them, is what this whole thing is about...and we vote with our dollars every single day...almost every hour of every day...THATīS power!!! And itīs a power they know well and fear. But whether you vote for Tweedle-Dee or Tweedle-Dum matters little in the end....look at Obama...what has he done but enshrine the least objectionable parts of Bushīs policies?
