Of course they were. Hitler wasn't a "monster". He was only the outstanding and most forward pupil and practioner of years of Christian teaching. He had millions of helpers and fellow-travellers. It wasn't the Plumbers Union or the Cabinetmakers Guild that were teaching hatred for Jews. It was the Church. If you attended Church and listenned to what was preached and did and felt as you were supposed to, you developed an irrational hatred for Jews (and Protestants and Catholics and Muslims and Orthodox etc). In fact, to have refused to do so would have made you a BAD Christian...since the Church determined who was a good or bad Christian and would hardly have approve of those who condemned anti-Semitism.

It's odd that Christians would now call those who were obedient to Church teaching "bad" Christians. On the contrary, they were the good ones. To have argued with the popes and Cardinals and Reverend Fathers that they were wrong to demonize the Jews as Christ-Killers and that teaching this to young and impressionable children could one day result in mass-murder, would have led to your own excommunication if not imprisonment or execution.

In the same way people are now warning the Church that teaching children to wash in blood, even as a symbol...to eat human flesh and drink human blood...and to accept benefits that come only through the murder of Innocents is unhealthy and potentially dangerous for civilized society...and we too are being called "bad". Because we're disputing Church doctrine and teachings...in the same way as those who would have opposed the Church's teachings against Jews would have been condemned.

These people TEACH this stuff...make it mandatory for all "good" Christians..and then when the ultimate horrific results become evident, they distance themselves from their OWN teachings and cut off the puplis they eagerly instructed back before the murderous effects of these kinds of lessons were felt.

Let's at least stay consistent. The word of God isn't supposed to "evolve".
