In trying to understand what has made Christians the bloodiest people on earth I've focused on their teaching children cannibalism and vampirism as well as accepting gleefully what benefits come from the murder of the innocent. But there's more to it than that...more that makes Christianity so different from all other religions.

There's the little matter of teaching children to kneel down before and worship an instrument of torture and murder; the Cross. The Cross is a symbol of Christianity, perhaps THE symbol. That means it can stand in place of Christianity...that if you wanted to call up all of Christianity, you could use the image of the Cross and it would be enough. That means that Christianity is symbolized by murder....for what else is the cross but a method to kill?

What is the cross, really? It has no inherent religious meaning. The cross was the preferred mode for executing prisoners when the Romans wanted them to suffer terribly before dying a ghastly death. The cross didn't start out as a Christian or religious symbol but rather a symbol and tool of harsh Roman justice. Had Jesus been hanged, a gibbet and hangman's noose would have become the objects of Christian veneration....had he been shot by a firing squad, a rifle, in gold miniature, would have been hung around the neck of five year old children. Had Jesus been executed today he might have been put to death by lethal injection in which case the pope would carry a staff topped with a silver hypodermic....and gigantic hypodermics would rise from steeples all over the world.

Christianity is a cult of death masquerading as eternal life...which makes sense in a sick sort of way. But what a thing to teach children. Not only are they taught to eat human flesh and drink human blood, but to revere an instrument of torture and murder. Something, something more than "human nature" has to explain the mayhem and bloodlust of Christians which is so far beyond what we see in other religions. It can't be human nature to condone or even glorify cannibalism. In fact humans have condemned it since we can remember as the worst of crimes...likewise with vampirism. In fact drinking human blood is the subject of horror movies. And it goes against all civic laws to benefit in any way from the murder of anyone. And yet these things, along with glorifying an instrument of death, make up the core beliefs of Christianity...the only really unique things to Christianity which it shares with no other religion on earth. Certainly loving kindness, self-sacrifice, honoring parents and god are not exclusively Christian...but eating flesh and drinking blood is. And unless a Christian does so, be he or she as pure and holy as ever, without the bloody feast none can hope to gain eternal life, which is the one grand promise of Christianity.

The beliefs Christianity holds in common with Judaism and Islam as well as Buddhism, Confucianism and Zen are universal and sound. But they are not unique to Christianity...indeed they aren't even central or the most important. The most important things are all disgusting when not criminal...such as cannibalism, vampirism, benefits-through-murder and veneration of instruments of torture/death. These are to be found only in Christianity and might go a long way to explain why Christian children grow up to be the most bloody and lethal people on earth.
