I keep reading and hearing blaming the worst crimes in history on secularism, atheism, existentialism, socialism, and Nazism, which is always explained as being some branch of socialism due to the National Socialist brand. During the Nazi holocaust German soldiers, guards, intellectuals, etc., were either Catholic or Lutheran. There is a factor regarding Hitler and his circle's interest in the occult, the Theosophical Society, Madame Blavatsky, Krishnamurti; but the Third Reich was based on the Biblical "City Upon the Hill" myth similar to that of the early "chosen" settlers of Israel and the Massachusetts Bay Colony, the seeds of "American exceptionalism". --------------------- |
