...as a kid I spent some time with my grandparents in Tehran...each day I crossed the street to buy a ceramic jar of masta, yoghurt.....a few years later we went to Shiraz where we spent the summer...much cooler than Kuwait, where we lived from 1956 to 58....I remember the warm barbari and the thick cream which came in glass jars,,,and the honey. What a divine breakfast...there was a street, a hill actually, famous for kebob stands(maybe that was in Tehran)...first time I ever ate bull ball kebobs, loved them...ate so many I got sick.....beautiful city, so peaceful so calm...that was the summer of 57, before we were sent to Baghdad in time for the Revolution...and than to Chicago.....ugh.
