Why is it that our community shuns our artists and renders them as "crazy" until another ethnic group, like the Iranians, discover them and admire them for the true, creative force which they channel? Uncle Bani was one such example. The other was my father's "brother" and neighborhood buddy, Uncle Sooren. At his funeral it was the who's who in the Iranian music industry. I couldn't help but hear every few minutes from some "hater" that "what are these Hoshareh doing here?
