An interesting man indeed. I think it's a shame also what Salafis do but it doesn't surprise me at all since it was a British agent who established them and they helped defeat the Ottomans by causing trouble in Saudi Arabia. One of the figures they hold in high regards was a radical by the name of Ibn Taymia and this guy was a Kurd who lived like 800 years ago or so. This dude had issued rulings that it was forbidden to marry or eat with Shias and Sufis and even had some killed. This was probably one of the most brutal times between Muslims but what these agents of the British can't deny is that Sufis are the traditional Muslims of Sunni persuasion and they spread Islam around the world and all the way in China. Buddhism adopted much from Sufis and that's why they similar to some people.
