One of the misconceptions about the Civil War inculcated in history books taught in schools is that the War was about "freeing" the slaves. The war had nothing to do with freeing anybody. It was a war of economics. The South produced its goods on a slave economy; and the North needed low-paying wage slaves... how noble of the North.. no wonder why when the slaves went up to the urban north, they were quickly housed in strictly Black ghettos walking distance from the factories -- the concrete cotton fields.
