A great summary of the past 10 years.

One thing that you should also emphasise is that nationalism is a modern concept that swept over the Middle East during the 19th century. Originally nationalism was a European invention used to unify their nations state with one language, one religion, one culture and one history. It was this Colonialsit nationailism and a belief in their romanticised history that gave the European powers the belief that they were bringing civilisation to the rest of the world instead of outright expropriating their resources.

It took many years for the third world to also use this concept of nationalism - this time as a defense against Colonialism to liberate their homelands and gain some measure of independence.

The European powers eventually colonialised the majority of the globe and when there were no lands left to conquer they violently turned on each other.
This led to Colonial War 1 and Colonial War 2 during which the nationalists became more radicalised and more willing to homogenise their societies resulting in the genocide of the Assyrians, Armenians & Greeks by the Turkish Ottoman Empire and the Holocaust of the Jews by the German Nazis.

The Assyrians were primarily a convenient tool used by the British around Colonial War 1 to first conquer and then control the Middle East. They deliberately helped create a religous based romanticised history for our people in order to use them for their Colonial purposes.
