I pity the Jews who suffered just as I pity any living being who suffers at the hands of thugs and bullies. And if there was a level playing field and the Palestinians had sufficient means to defend themselves from F-16s, Predator Drones, White Phosphorus and Cluster Bombs, bombardment from land, air and sea, then I'd pity both gladiators. But homemade firecracker missiles and stones don't amount to much of a defense. If anything, it's a valiant attempt at symbolic resistance. It's like putting a cripple, blind kid in the ring with Mike Tyson in his prime with Don King as the referee. It's no match. But I agree with your assessment, and can relay a story a friend told me when he went to prison. Upon entering the cell which was occupied by several prisoners, there was a guy who on his knees facing the wall, shaking from kneeling for who knows how long, and trembling from exhaustion, fear and anxiety. When my friend walked in, the shot caller immediately told him to go punch the guy in the face... or he'll be the one kneeling instead of the guy.. so, my friend, reluctantly walked over and hit the guy once, and was ordered to keep hitting the guy harder for several times while the shot caller and his friends were laughing at the entertainment they were providing by tormenting two innocent people. In that case I do pity both parties being the tormneted playthings of a sadistic, spoiled, arrogant child. --------------------- |
